Yes, i did send mine and based on the postings here others did send theirs too. You will get all the ORIGINALS back at the time of Interview. You can send in the certified copy but it has to be issued by the same authority(office) that issued BC.

Passport office police clearance issue

My parents from ahmedabad , India and they went to get PCC from passport office . They were told that in order to get PCC from passport office they need checklist from NVC ( officer mentioned that it will be 3-4 pages document ) How does one get checklist from NVC ? I have paid IV fee but haven't send DS 230. I was waiting for PCC.

Hi Bunnyta,

I called NVC and they advised me not to send I-864 for my dad without the cover letter. The following day, they sent me an email with my dad's coverpage for the AOS. Just call NVC and tell them your issue. They should send you a copy of cover letter with the barcode on it for your dad. Don't use your mom's cover page. Hope this helps.

I know in Ahemadabad they require letter from NVC but not the case in Hyderabad as my parents applied for PCC well before i started the process at NVC as i got all the documents ready before process started at NVC. I was exchanging emails with one of the other members from Ahmedabad and he had to face similar situation (try sending in personal message to smithjohnatpa ).

Usually the checklist letter will be emailed after I-864 is accepted and before DS-230 is entered into the system. Even if we send the DS-230 packet and if they dont enter it into the system then also will get the cheklist letter email as i got after DS-230 is received by NVC and others too as per other member posts.

In some cases NVC is asking the beneficiaries to submit the PCC at the time of Interview (based on earlier member posts). The best thing to do is to mail the DS-230 documents with all the info and in case if they want require then they will issue an RFE for the same and based on this letter you can get PCC or if you get the checklist letter email before getting RFE then you can get it ready so that you can mail to NVC if they issue RFE or you can submit them at the time of interview. By doing this your case will be in the queue and as soon as you send in PCC (if they issue RFE) your case will be completed right away instead of waiting for the checklist letter email and then getting PCC as this will eat away the time. If you are not in a hurry then you can wait or send the DS-230 without PCC. ( This is my opinion and advise and decision is yours. )

You need to send in two based on this situation...

If the beneficiary passport was issued within past 6 months then they need PCC from Passport office

If the passport was issued more than 6 months prior to visa application then they need from PCC from 1

1) Passport office and

2. The district police office serving the applicant's place of residence

If you send in atleast one PCC to NVC then the other is required at the time of Interview.

I talked to NVC operator on phone and she talked to her supervisor adn told me that PCC from passport is not required if it is a bombay consulate. They know whole situation adn she told that I can submit all docs without PCC and later NVC will email me interview letter with note to collect PCC and show during interview.

I received RFE from NVC.... missng DS-230 and other supporting documents. I'm still waiting for my mom to send me her signed DS-230 as long as her police certificate, My question is how long does the NVC transfer the case to the embassy or do they transfer it even without the DS-230. I'm getting worried.

Your case has to be completed at NVC first before they can send your file to the embassy...that means they need the DS-230 package before they can complete your case barring any more RFEs
