Good luck for your parents interview tomorrow, TayRivers. Hope all goes well for them. :D

Thank you for the good wishes. My parents are traveling to London now.. they should be there in about another 3 hours. They are staying at a nice hotel and are going to see a stage show tonight. I know Mom is feeling a bit nervious but I think they will be fine.

As for me I dont think I will be able to sleep tonight... I will update you all as soon as I hear from them.

:dance::dance::dance: BOTH PARENTS APPROVED :dance::dance::dance:

My Mom phoned at 5:30am to tell me that they had been approved at their IR-5 interview. Here is Mom's report:

We left the Marble Arch Holtel at 7:30am to walk to the Embassy. We got there at 7:45am and there was already a very large line waiting to get in, it was also raining...

We got to the first check point and had to show our interview appointment letter and our passports, we were then sent to Security Screening and had the backpack with our copies of everything x-rayed. We were then directed to Immigrant Visas. There was far more people going to the non-immigrant visas than were in our section.

We were given a number ticket 18407 (the numbers started at 18400) We then took a seat in the waiting hall, it was very busy even at 8:15am. Our appointment was for 8:30am so we knew we would have to wait. We sat there for about 50 mins and then our number was called.

We went up to the first window and the man explained that he would be checking that all our papers were in order and he would do our Fingerprints. He went through all the papers for both of us and said everything was there, he then did both of our fingerprints (thought I was going to end up with black fingers like you see on the TV but its all done electronicly) He then told us to take a seat and we would be called for our interview soon.

At 9:55am we were called for the interview, Our interviewr was a very young american lady. She explained that we were not to answer each others questions and then we had to take an oath to tell the truth. The officer first asked me (The Mum) " What does your daughter do for work?" and she then asked my husband "How old was your step-daughter when you and your wife married?" She then handed me all the original documents that we had sent to NVC, she then gave us both our chest x-rays and said " CONGRATULATIONS YOU ARE APPROVED, WELCOME TO THE USA" We were both amazed that it was over so fast, I actually said "Oh is that it?" we were directed to the courier desk to pay for the delivery. We thanked the officer very much and went to pay the fee for the delivery of our passports abd the brown envelope.

We were outside by 10:15am, both very happy and relived it was all over. We have to thank our daughter for dealing with all the paperwork, all we had to do was sign were needed. So for us we will be arriving in our new home on Aug 7th..

Thanks to everyone on VJ who help me with the process of getting my parents here. When I first filed the I-130's for them I thought we would be doing well if the were here by the end of the year. I never thought it would take just over 4 months from filing to approval.

Congrats Tay, that is great news, and thank you for posting the interview experience too.

I do have one question. From your post I assume your parents took with them a copy of everything that was sent to the NVC? If so, did they need it or did the people at the embassy have the original paperwork that was sent to the NVC?

I'm just wondering if I should send a copy of everything to my Mum to take with her to the interview just incase, even though it's not listed on her things to bring.

I told Mom to take both the copies I had made for them with them to the Embassy. It was not needed. Everything that I had sent to NVC was in each folder, including the little stick on tabs that I had put on the photocopies of the original documents that we only had one copy of, they said "Original Held in Case # LND1234567" Mom said it was strange to see the forms again that we had sat and filled in when I was over in the UK for Christmas.

I did not want them to get to the interview and something be missing, that is why I sent a complete copy of every document and form.

Mom did not even have to ask about getting the original documents back the interviewing officer had them all ready in a envelope and she checked each one with Mom as she put them in the envelope.

Tay we are absolutely delighted for you and your folks.

I am sure when you started the application process it was the same for you seeing people successful in their own visa applications.

I know a lot of people have said nice stuff, but really you have helped so many people with their questions, worries and fears.

We wish you every happiness as your family becomes complete.

Well done Tay, top job!

Thank you Richard, I am going to hang around for a while, at least until the members I have been helping are all done with their parents applications. If I can help others get through the process than I am happy to stay around.

UPDATE

Mom and Dads passports with the visa inside and the packets for POE arrived the moring. They are all set for their arrival here a week today...

Think it will be the longest 7 days for them. They are staying at a relatives house and living out of cases, I know they will be glad to get here.
