NOTICE FOR ANYONE APPYING FOR A PARENT (IR-5).

I HAVE JUST GOT A RFE FROM THE NVC. NEW GUIDELINES ARE THAT THE PETITIONING CITIZEN MUST INCLUDE WITH THE DS-230 A ORIGINAL OF THE PETITIONERS BIRTH CERTIFICATE AND MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE AND ANY DIVORCE PAPERS.

I will overnight them to NVC and hope it does not slow us down too much.

Hi TayRivers,

Above you mentioned that NVC asked you to send present marriage and previous divorce papers. Did you send divorce certificate or previous marriage certificate? I received an email for petitioner previous marriage certificate. I know it says on the NVC website

Can you please let me know.

I am getting ready to send originals back to NVC, but I do not have the previous marriage certificate. In the country where I had divorce you can not obtain marriage certificate after divorce. "ZAGS" issues divorce certificate.

No, pay the bill. Wait for it to clear. Print out the barcoded cover sheet. And send in your DS230 package. No need to wait for NVC to send you any thing.

I need some input, I have everything ready for my ds-230 package. i called my bank this morning and they told me the money had already taking out, so it only a matter of time before NVC update my statu to PAID. HOWEVER as i was talking with my mother last night, it turns out that this whole time i had copies of her birth certificate and the original is still with her grrrrrr. so i want to know should i go ahead an send my package and wait for NVC to send me a RFE(so i can send this original birthcertificate) or should i wait on my mother to send it to me, and then send out the package? :unsure:

You better ask your mom to send it quick rather than waiting for an RFE which will prolong the process. See my timeline after I got the RFE for my DS230. Best of luck!

RFE would add 10-14 days into the process. If it takes less than that to wait for original paper work from your mother,it would be worth waiting.

It seems quite early for an interview at 6:30am. Thought American government wouldn't start working till 9 or so :)

I called NVC just now and my Mama's interview will be on Jan 14th @ 0830...I am happy and excited!!! :dance::dance::dance:
