Thanks Griffin. Its always good to see what sort of questions they might ask. My Mom has been getting my dad to go over and over where I live and what my job is, he has a hard time remembering what he ate at breakfast never mind addresses and things..

I keep telling her they will be fine at the interview, just tell the truth and if you dont understand a question ask the officer to explain..

This time next week they will be in London for their interview on Wednesday morning. I cant wait to have them here.

Hi Tay

Can you do the same after your parents interview? We are already getting tense about the interview and that is months away!

Congrats to your parents Griffin. We look forward to following in their footsteps.

Richard

I have already ask both Mom and Dad to try and remember exactly what is asked and exactly what happens at the embassy. I know I have googled for information about the interview for parents but there is so little information out there on this subject.

Mom is going to call me as soon as they are done at the embassy. I will get the details from her and will try to post them here that afternoon, It will depend on how busy I am at work. If I dont get it posted next wednesday afternoon I will post it that evening when I get home.

I just wish I could have gone to London with them, but I get so little time off from work. I think I will be just as tence as they will be.

Hi everyone!!! I realized I never posted my parents' interview here so I'm doing it now for anybody who can benefit now or in the future...

My parents had their IR5 interview on May 18 at 8:30am at the U.S embassy in Lima, Peru; they arrived at the embassy at 7:45am and were asked to show their interview appointment letters and passports. After that, they went thru the metal detector and went to sit at the immigrant visa section.

After an hour or so, a girl called their names and asked for the medical envelopes and the 2x2 photographs. The girl opened the envelope, got a sheet of paper out and returned the envelope to my parents. She also asked them both:

"Who's petitioning you?"

"How did your daughter get to the U.S?"

"In what year was your daughter born?"

"Does your daughter work?"

"What does your daughter's husband do?"

"Have you recently gotten married?" (My parents were married before I was born but their marriage certificate showed 2 different issuing years so they had to explain when exactly they got married and why there were 2 years showing on the certificate)

"How many children do you have?"

"Which one of your children live in the U.S?"

"Have you ever applied for a visa to the U.S?"

"Have you ever been in another country?"

After the questioning, the girl started going thru the papers that I had sent to USCIS and NVC and returned the photocopies that I had mailed to NVC. She then told them to have a seat and wait till the consular officer called their names up....

...An hour and a half later, the consular officer called their names up and took their fingerprints; my parents had to swear that everything they had said, wrote down and sent was nothing but the true. After that, they signed their DS-230s and the consular officer asked almost the same questions that the previous girl had asked them except the questions were directed to my dad ONLY:

"When was your daughter born?"

"Does your daughter work?"

"What does your daughter's husband do?"

"How many children do you have?"

"Which one of your children live in the U.S?"

"Did you get married in 2006?"

(My mom intervened here and explained to the officer that they got married before I was born but their marriage certificate was re-issued in 2006 because the original marriage certificate had burnt in the civil registry office in a fire back in '06)

The consular officer looked at them like she was deep in thought, like she was studying them, something like that and then said "ok I'll be right back; I'm going to get your visa numbers." A few moments later, she came back with a small pink ticket and told them to go pay the fee at the courier for their visas.

They went to the courier and paid 1 fee for both visas and 2 days later they had their passports with the visas stamped on them!!!

That was it! My parents said their interview was pretty easy but lenghty! I was also worried because my dad forgets A LOT of things but he did pretty good.

Well GOOD LUCK everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats on your Mum's approval Griffin, that is great news.

Thanks to those that posted about their interview experiences, it helps a lot. My Mum has been asking if I knew what sort of questions she would be asked so now I can give her some ideas.

I have a couple of updates too. TayRivers, if you could please update the big list I would appreciate it.
