any one have this kind of issue and what happen?

Thanks in advance.

ChinaBabe,

Yes we have to send them Originals and Copies of each Original submitted. I sent in one envelope, placed original first and right after it placed copy of it and did write on the copy as it is a copy of original and the NVC case # on each copy that is not original. I sent both parents cases in one envelope separated each case by a paper clip. Hope this helps. Each set has a cover sheet of its own and the Document Cover sheet and other required documents....

Here is what it is on the travel.state.gov site ( http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html )

Original Document Requirements

The applicant and each family member who will accompany the applicant to the United States will need to submit original documents or certified copies of the documents listed in this section from an appropriate authority (the issuing entity).

Photocopy Requirements

In addition to sending the original documents or certified copies of the documents to the NVC, the applicant and each accompanying family member must submit a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents.

Good Luck! Thanks, Raj

Thanks for your help. why do we have to send the originals and copies? did you send your parents ds230 and other doc in one envelop? is that why you need a copy of every original?

thanks

You wont write the NVC number on the DS-230. You will have the Document Cover Sheet that goes with the DS-230 which will have the bar code and also the NVC case number. But you need to write the NVC case number on the Copies of the Originals that you will send along with DS-230.

Your parents need to sign on DS-230 part I only and not on Part II.

Documents with DS-230

These are the documents that i sent for my parents..

Cover letter that lists all these....

DS-230 Document Cover sheet.

Smithjohnatpa,

I did some search but could not find any thing like what you asked. Hopefully, the NVC will kindly make the copies from the original documents. If not, they would ask for RFE. So all you can do now is keep your fingers crossed. Worst scenario, send in the copies when you get the RFE.

Hi all,

The AVR just said this morning that my case was completed yesterday and the operator said I would receive e-mail confirmation and interview appointment later. Finally this journey is almost done...

For those with similar situation (USCIS asked for originals, especially the petitioner's Birth Certificate, then sent them to NVC after case approved by USCIS), here is the lesson I learned from my situation:

1) File Form G-884 Request For The Return of Original Document right after USCIS sent the case to NVC (to make sure they return to the petitioner or confirm it was sent to NVC)

2) "CALL" NVC right after you have a NVC Case No, and request to talk to a supervisor to ask for someone to check your case for the original you want.

I wasted almost 2 months because I trusted what both USCIS and NVC said about the originals I sent to USCIS due to an RFE (original BC and original Petition for Name Change). After case transfered to NVC, I called USCIS and they said everything I submitted would be sent along to NVC, so contact NVC. I called NVC and was told to write to NVC via e-mail about what I want. Three weeks later, I received the very general response: further action is taken, etc...and nothing else after that. Then I called NVC and was told to write an e-mail with title "Attention: PI supervisor named....". Nothing after almost 3 more weeks. By this time I already submitted both I-864 and DS-230 packages. Then shortly after that I received "missing documents" checklist about the Petitioner's original Birth Certificate. I then called NVC and asked to talk to a supervisor named given to me when writing e-mail attention to her. She was very helpful and assigned someone to look into my case file for that document (it took a whole week though) and finally NVC confirmed they found this original in my file. I was lucky it did not get lost even though I asked my parents for another Certified Copy sent to me in case NVC could not find it but it would be much worse if the Petition for Name Change was lost because then I will need to ask for it from the government and you know how long it takes to get it...

Bottom line: I trusted both USCIS and NVC about what they said or told me to do and paid the price of wasting almost 2 months in NVC. I should have been more proactive at the very beginnign when NVC assigned a Case No. Hope my lesson would be beneficial to anyone in a similar situation...

Thanks everyone for help and comfort during this journey.

Cheers for my case completion!

Congratulations!! best of luck to all of us!

meicheng,

I did respond to your personal email you sent with all the required info...check your Inbox and let me know.

Good Luck! Thanks, Raj

Raj456,

I have just find out this forum is very helful on how to bring parents to USA as US citizen.

What documents do I need to prepare to file the petitions for them(they are now in China) in USA?

Could you please help?

I went over your process list, it seems to me you have experienced the process.

DS- 230 Completed and signed on Par I
