keep in mind there is a difference between COUNTY and COUNTRY

lots of counties make up a state, lots of states make up a country.

Yeah I noticed that mistake. Nonetheless

UK: 1 every 4,735 hours

US: 1 every 57 hours

US has 5 times the population of the UK.

UK has 8 times the population density.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

What happened in Oakland was a Tragedy, whenever someone is Murdered it's always a Tragedy. These officers were doing their work, They are Fathers, Brothers, Sons of many.

When it comes down to the GHETTO comments, it has nothing to do with the tragedy, just a few weeks ago when an officer shot and killed this young man at the Bart station in Cold blood. My younger brother is a cop so i know the kind of stress they go through, but you have to keep your head in your shoulder and take responsibility for your own actions.

I grew up in Malborough Project when I was a kid, It was home, and there's no better place like home. people whose not from the neighborhood might feel scared but as long as you were not involved in the illegal activities happening around, nobody will bother you and in that madness there's some order in that disorder, kinda hard to explain. If you see a little one doing something you can tell him, hey i am gona tell your mom, you shouldn't do that, it doesn't work in all cases but there are a lot of nice, honest, hardworking family living in the Ghetto. Later on we moved on to another project called Gravesend in Coney Island, Neptune Ave, same story it was home and we never felt scared, I parked my car on the street, Not once it ever got stolen or vandalized.

I had part time job where i would take the subway, B train, F train, Q train and D train to last exit (Coney island), i get home after midnight, not once I ever felt scared taking the subway or walking home. Later on we bought a house in Queens, Whenever i go to NY that's one of the 1st place i dropped by, even after moving to Queens, CONEY ISLAND ALWAYS REMAINS HOME!!!

How, exactly would he have achieved that with a baseball bat? Seriously dude, get a grip.

Okay so the guns are too blame. Therefore if this person didn't have a gun they would have been sipping a latte at Starbucks right?

Seriously Cleo go outside a little more often. Live life a little then you will hopefully wake up. How many people do you personally know are serving time in prison?

Okay my bad. I misread the dam statement. One police officer dies every 57 hours in the country. Which is still a bloody disgrace.

How many police officers die in the UK every 57 hours or 500 hours?

How many police officers die in Australia every 57 hours or 3,000 hours?

How many police officers die in Canada every 57 hours or 3,000 hours?

I'll answer my own question:

Some 37 police officers have been murdered in the line of duty in the past two decades in England, Scotland and Wales.

[/indent] He uses AK-47s to hunt squirrels?!? We didn't realize there were squirrels in California that went around wearing body armor. And why is "Mike" so afraid he'll be robbed? The guy's got two AR-15s at home and two AK-47s on the way-- he shouldn't be afraid of anything!

Ballistics

Main article: 7.62x39mm

What does the weapon have to do with this anyway?

Whether this guy had a gun or a baseball bat, he still would have killed them.

How, exactly would he have achieved that with a baseball bat? Seriously dude, get a grip.

Come on... We all know from HRH Prince Philip that an overweight man in his 40's could kill 17 people in the space of a few minutes if he were armed with a cricket bat. The presence of the gun being inconsequential to the outcome - and the same death toll could have been achieved had the guy been wielding a pencil or a roll of plastic wrap.

? BY, stop making assumptions. The fact that he couldn't have done what he did without a gun doesn't mean that guns are to 'blame'. There are many failures that lead to these situations but as none of us know any of the particulars of the case, we can't really make any sensible conclusions as to how to prevent such losses in the future. However, rest assured that there are many people who do know working on that as we speak - or at least there certainly should be.

it's all about how some make the ak-47 seem like an end all demonic firearm when there's other calibers out there that put it to shame.

The question they should be asking is how does this convicted felon acquire a gun or any gun in the first place. No they don't ask that because it goes against pro-active policing. Rather they prefer to blame the gun. Stereotypical liberal yank bullshi-t known as barking up the wrong tree syndrome. Hence why nothing changes.

Lets assume we ban all guns right. Every single one of them. What stops illegal immigrants bringing them in. How will the police enforce this law since without probable cause they are not allowed to carry out random spot checks. Therefore the good guys will lose the guns while the crooks will continue to own them.

While the Michael Moores talk about the homicide rates of other countries being lower due to stricter gun ownership, he also fails to mention that police in a number of those same countries can carry out random on the spot checks without any probable cause.

Lovelle Mixon, 26, was pulled over by two motorcycle officers in Oakland, California Saturday afternoon for a routine traffic stop at 1:08 p.m. Mixon, driving a 1995 Buick, who police later discovered was wanted on a no-bail warrant for violating parole on an assault with a deadly weapon charge,

So ... doesn't this read that Mixon was already a convicted felon (violating parole) and was already prohibited by law from owning / possessing a firearm. Guess the law worked in preventing this paroled individual from possessing a firearm. So ... let's make more laws to forbid a convicted felon ... and wanted person (parole violation) from possessing firearms.

That's stupid reasoning which has nothing to do with what anyone has said.

When all the facts come out and we find out how he obtained the assault weapon from someone who bought the parts legally, then what will you say? Banning assault rifles will not stop all from obtaining them, but it will make it much more difficult to obtain them.

Breath and focus BY, you are making assumptions based on things going on in your own head, not based on anything anyone has actually posted. No one here has blamed the gun. The closest anyone has come to that is you with your statistics regarding police losses in UK versus US forces, but as I have no idea how you came up with these statistics, it's really hard to know if they are in fact relevant in any way at all.

I posted links to both of the sources.

What is illogical?

Or is it that your graphic rendering brain simply does not get it? I can dumb it down for you to understand if need be.

There's any number of ways he could have gotten it. Highlights the problem with trying to restrict guns (or certain types at least) in certain areas, when its relatively easy to import them from others.

CA at least has numerous problems - black market from south of the border as well as unscrupulous types elsewhere in this country.

They don't relate BY. One is in regards to police officers being murdered by knives in the UK, ie a very specific cause of death, the other was from a quote by an officer commenting on police loss in the US during the course of duty ie very non specific as to the cause of death. They can't be made to fit together to draw any logical conclusions.
