That is a gargantuan poop!

Reminds me of some of these threads.

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO, What a Ride'

None, obviously. However, the implication is that Len merely has thin skin, when the acuality of it is, she was responding to blatant racism. Hence, not thin skinned at all.

You just hurt my feelings Cleo  u r mean :jest:

You have beautiful skin Len, like a baby :)

(in the nicest possible way. Which reminds me, My son has the softest skin ever, I guess it's because he's still relatively young :) )

All for a gargantuan bullsh!tter.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I figured that those with some intelligence would reason the same as you. But I would be interested to hear from the great one himself.

Sorry, I should not have interrupted.

No Len, your skin is not full of ######! Nor is my baby's :D

Apples to oranges. Assault rifles can fire off much faster and with more accuracy than high powered handgun and from a much farther distance.

Look, when the police are calling for assault rifle ban, then you know they have legitimate concerns for their safety as well that of citizens. It's really not that difficult to see the potential threat. And if you think any projectile weapon should be legal, why not allow missile launchers? Tanks? Reasonable regulations can and will be instituted...without any constitutional challenge. The gun lobby knows that which is why they focus their efforts on PR to scare citizens into thinking that the government wants to take away their guns. Pure fear mongering. In the meantime, police officers are dying.

yes, assault rifles can fire faster, but that's usually known as spray and pray. assault rifles are hindered in close quarters too.

So the perpetrator in this case barricaded himself in an apartment. Do you really think he would have been able to kill two heavily armored SWAT members as well as injuring a third one with anything other than an assault rifle? Because, if so, our police and SWAT are f##ked anytime someone wants to barricade themselves in building. Might as well bomb the building or fire rockets into it.

Only military grade ceramic body armor and "bomb" proof armor is capable of stopping centerfire rifle bullets. Even then it is not 100% effective. SWAT does not typically wear ceramic plate body armor though they probably should. Traditional body armor is only capable of stopping pistol rounds. Additionally, most deer rounds are more deadly than military rounds. This is because military rounds are usually lighter and are not allowed to fragment or expand on impact due to the Geneva convention. Many popular deer rounds however are manufactured with a hollow point expanding bullet in order to inflict more damage and kill the animal faster. The only inherrent advantage an "assault" rifle has over a semi-automatic deer rifle is its lighter weight which isn't always the case now that composite materials have reached mainstream products.

With that said, it is suicidal to attempt to take someone by force who has baricaded himself unless wearing military grade armor or being absolutely certain that the person doesn't have a rifle.

Why do gun advocates want assault rifles to be legal? Makes no sense.

I saw this comment a few days ago and have been thinking about it.

It is really no different than the guy who wants the fastest computer, the guy that changes out the V8 in his car for an even bigger V8, the guy that wants the mountain bike with the latest and the absolute lightest materials, the guy that wants the fastest or the biggest and baddest motorcycle (HD is what it is today because of this), the guy that wants the really fast airplane rather than the slower one (howard hughes.... and many others).

None of this "makes sense" either, but it is what it is.

There are enough guys out there that like the guns that are the BMWs in the gun world or the mother of all guns and the NRA is the organization that protects their hobby. For them, they feel it is unfair that their hobby be restricted because some moo foo from the ghetto wants to kill people.

Life..... Nobody gets out alive.

Background

At face value, part of the problem seems to be that the US system demands huge numbers of criminals be placed in correction/prison, but then refuses to sufficiently fund the correction facilities. What a waste of everyone's time. The cheap alternative is of course to just use the "one strike and you are out philosophy", literally!
