Hey!

I have a problem. My K3 papers have been sent to the embassy and NVC is currently processing the I-130 application. I have already done my medical plus gathering most of the necessary documents, so soon I could book the appointment with the embassy for the K3. I have talked with my hubby that we both would like to have I-130 but we don't know how long would it take. So, what we were thinking is that I go ahead and try to book the interview for the K3 as far as I can and hopefully the I-130 will be ready until then. I'm still working in my country until end of august, so I have time to wait. BUT if NVC won't be able to finish I-130 application before august and I will take the K3 interview, what are my chances to have the I-130 interview later? Adjustment of status is just rip off. So can I come to my country and take the I-130 interview here without AOS?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Someone will correct me if I am wrong but I don't think you book the K-3 interview date, I think it is assigned to you.

We were finished NVC is 27 days so I am sure you'll get through before August.

If I were you, I'd forgoe the K-3 and take the CR-1 interview date. After the visa is issued you have 6 months to use it - taking you through August.

Good luck.

Some consulates let the petitioner schedule their interview dates, I assumed this was one of those.

Agreed that you should be out long before August.

Good Luck

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

The responces you got havent got anything to do with the question you asked.

It isnt NVC that will finish your petition. It is you. They will send you requests for documentation & fees that will result in approved petition for a CR 1 visa.

The timeline that happens in is a product of your responce time to what they need & thier current processing times. Read the guides & find the NVC flow chart. There are short cuts found here on VJ that can help.

Can you go back & interview for a CR 1 visa? I think so but the expense of returning ect may be more than the AOS.
