Medical exam and interview on the same weekend?

Currently there are 3 locations in Canada to get the medical exam done: Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. The Vancouver medical office provides same day service. Arrive at 6:30 am and they can provide results by 2:30 pm. My question is, should I try to schedule the medical exam and interview on the same weekend? This will save me time and money flying back and forth to Vancouver. What do you all think? Is this possible/recommended? Thanks for your help.

Yes, this is an absolute possibility, although please note that you cannot book appointments during weekends. The Vancouver consulate is only open Monday-Friday excluding U.S. and Canada stat holidays. The Vancouver medical examinations only take place on Wednesdays (they may accommodate a Thursday under certain circumstances).

There is a recent thread about this in the Canada Region forum that goes into this in detail: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=186000

Is it wise to go ahead and request an interview date even though I technically do not have everything on the checklist complete and ready to go? I have everything but the financial information and police certificate ready. But I'm quite certain everything will be ready for the time I request which will probably be late May.

We're going through Montreal, and the money is a concern for us as well. So once we get our interview date we are going to book our medical three or four days before it. Hopefully we get it in time for the interview and if not, well I will have to get them to forward it to the consulate. It will delay us some if we don't get it in time. Hopefully all goes well.

In my personal opinion and experience, it is better to do it ahead of time.

I did my medical in Toronto through Dr Seiden on a Wednesday. They were dynamic, speedy, and well organized. I nearly managed to get the entire thing done in an hour, but I had one tiny problem with my immunization records. One of the required shots for my age was not present on either documents, so I had to fax them back a confirmation document that proofed my vaccination, along with their request document signed by the examining doctor as a cover letter. My local Health Unit was extremely speedy with issuing me a new health record, (they are yellow tiny cards here in Ontario,) and I could have even picked it up and faxed it the same day as my medical... but the Windsor - Toronto - Windsor trip was killer haha. I picked it up and faxed it the following day, also called Dr Seiden's office and left a message on their answering machine, requesting a confirmation for my fax's arrival. The receptionist called me back on Friday of the same week, telling me that they got it and my package will be arriving the following Monday... and it did!

So yeah, if you manage to not bring absolutely complete documents, (like me,) it is better to do it early than be sorry afterward.

If you do decide to do it in the same time frame, do make sure that you have all your records complete, and bring more than they ask!
