tasers are not "non-lethal", they are less-lethal. unwarranted use of a taser should not be permitted in law enforcement application. unfortunately, such is not only tolerated, rather, it is encouraged.

Well if people didn't act the fool, they wouldn't have to use them.

Don't tase me bro!

you need to remember that there is a difference between containment and compliance. current training is that a taser is a suitable pain inducing stimulus to induce compliance. tasers are used on people who are already contained to force them to "obey". you need to watch a little youtube. there are lots of dashcam/jailcam/newscam clips of people being sat on by police and completely unable to move who are tased.

containment is ethical. induction of pain is not, unless you are jack bauer, and you really need to know where those muslim terrorists are hiding the bomb. in that case, you handcuff them and jab a pen into their neck... there are too many jack bauers in ordinary police work today.

tasers are dangerous..there was a former client of mine...who was killed recently for 'acting crazy in public' in a small town nearby....officers were afraid of his behavior...hollering and yelling and taser him...dead ona rrival to the ER

That guy in the airport in Canada too, as I recall.

Presumably the electricity can mess up your heart rythm...

Well now, that would solve the problem, wouldn't it?

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Get a life. It was a joke which obviously you never get. It's da internetzzz, ya? I don't have time to watch a "little youtube". I've got that thing called a job that I've gotta take care of.

I believe that tasers are only necessary when police officer's feel they are not able to handle themselves or are outnumbered. I believe that they are the ones that are trained to man-handle bad people and they should do it with their sheer fists and man power first, before using a taser or a gun, etc. Are some police officers going to abuse this? Of course. Human beings abuse all powers.

But just so you know, some guys manpower can be JUST as deadly as a taser. Next thing you know, when a cop punches an unruly person in the neck and kills him or severely damages his ability to live, we will hear about it just the same.

You can't contain someone if they are not allowing you to take them. If they put up a fight, you have to take different measures to contain them.

I'm not condoning tasers, I'm just saying that I believe they are necessary in CERTAIN situations. As you are not in law enforcement, you certainly can be a good judge of how violent some people can be. My friend who is a cop just got her two front teeth punched out by a kid on drugs. She doesn't have a taser but in that scenario, I think it would be okay.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

A.J., since you so despise cops, would you really like to live in a society with no law enforcement? Would you prefer to be at the mercy of the bottom feeding criminals?

It's sad that this boy had to die in such a stupid way for such a stupid reason. However, if the officers felt that they were in danger or if their life was threatened in anyway, that would excuse the use of the taser in this case and even using their firearm if needed, no matter that this boy was 15.

He'd be the first to go. I know of people who would eat AJ types alive.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.
