I got two biometric appointments

I had my biometrics done last week.

Immediately afterward I found another notice in the mail, with a different date of next week. Can somebody suggest what I should do? I'm afraid if I try to cancel the second one, it might get complicated: my entire application might be cancelled by mistake, or it might affect the visit I have already made.

Thanks.

Does the second letter has the same name, A number, receipt number, everything but just a different date? What's the date of your second letter and envelope stamp date? are they sent out after your first appointment or before your first appointment? Ther are two solutions to find out what happened: call the 1800 number or schedule an infopass. It sounds an inconvenience to you, but they're the government and we have to comply. Most importantly is that you cannot ignore the second letter, need to find out if you really have to go the second time or not. Here are the possible whys:

(1) The first biometrics have problem, that's why they want to do it again.

(2) Clerical error, but need to find out if you really have to go the second time.

(3) Well, I'm running out of ideas, how about other VJers give dougalted a little help here.

Agree.Make a call to find out maybe your first fingerprints had a problem and you need to go back and do it again.

Maybe I didn't make it clear. I got the second letter on my arrival home from the appointment. So that means the letter was dispatched before I went for the biometrics. That means it has nothing to do with the outcome of the first appointment.

Both have same information, different date only.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here are my ideas of how I would personally handle this. I would call the USCIS number on the biometrics and explain to them about the second ASC appointment. See if they need you to maybe send them a copy of where you completed the biometrics along with a copy of the second notice so they can reference it on your case? And/or if the ASC office is close by go back on scheduled date or try a walk in and show them the proof and ask them to note it on your file.

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.

If it's easy to get back to the biometrics place, I would go again on the date of the second notice. If you don't show for biometrics, the case is considered abandoned, and who knows if they could correct this error by phone... Maybe I should trust the USCIS more, but going in person with all paperwork seems to be the safest bet.

We had a sort of a similar situation in that we received 2 biometrics notices, one dated 3/19 and the second dated 3/21. We called the # on the biometrics letter (which turned out to be the VSC) and from what we were told there was no record of the 3/19 date in the system, only the 3/21 date was in the database. So apparently the ASC cancelled the first appointment and re-scheduled without clearly stating that in the second letter. Whatever the case, the situation wasn't very clear. Since there was no record of the 3/19 appt., we ended up going to the second appointment and had no problems. In fact they did us a favor because the second appt. was on a Saturday and there were only two other people in front of us waiting to be processed. At this point, since you've already done the biometrics, I would just call the toll-free number on the letter and see what they say.
