We both decided we want to go ahead with the K-3 visa as opposed to the Immigrant visa, for various reasons. However, I have a concern with the income requirements.

I just started a new job last week, and although my current income is above the poverty requirements, I'm concerned that they will deny us based on the short time I have held this position. I was working at another job for 4 months prior to this one, but decided to take this job in another state so that our income would be higher. My other concern is my income from 2008 wasn't much since my wife and I were living overseas for almost all of last year.

Should I be concerned over this matter, or will the US embassy in Manila be convinced that my current job will be enough to support the two of us?? I considered a co-sponser, but I have heard that Manila usually doesn't accept co-sponsers on the I-134 AOS form. I hope someone out there has been in my situation and can help reduce the stress in this process for me. Thanks for taking the time in reading this

Natural to be concerned but what other course of action do you have? You can only submit the info & let the case be decided on its merits.

Our case was pretty similar & it came out fine. Yours will too.

I submitted a letter with the 134 explaining that I was in country with my wife & like you had a reduced income during that time. Your current income is in line with the requirements & should be enough to convince them. The decision to take a new job in a new location in preperation for her to come should also be a factor.

The fact that you were with her for a long period should help as well.

I agree with Ricker. Just let the case be decided on its merits. You are doing all you can, just keep doing it. Moving out of state for a job is a good thing (in my opinion), it shows you'll do anything, go anywhere to get a job so your family can be with you.

Life..... Nobody gets out alive.

Hello,

Just want to help about your questions regarding your income. I am Hazel Hess. I just had my interview last March 16 and it went well. By the way, my Husband doesn't have job last 2007 but he has his consulting firm business.

He is an engineer but not employed. He came here and we got married December 2007. Then by November 2008, he got a job. So that's like 4 months from his starting day. I just told them about how much my husband's salary per hour and that's it. Of course both the pre screener and the consul asked me about the income for the year 2007. But I have the letter from my Husband's boss and his bank showing his good credentials too. I guess as long as you have a good job that could support you and your wife to be then everything is ok. I had the 2008 ITR too so they just scanned it. Don't worry about it ... Everything is ok and you'll be with your wife soon. Take care and if you have q's or if you don't understand what I'm saying here.just asked me or reply to me.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to offer us good advice. So many things are happening right now and I just want to make sure all things are done properly so that my wife will have a good interview experience. Not only the K-3, but she also has to go for an interview to obtain the babys CRBA and passport, so there is sooo much preparing to do. Good luck to all :)
