Fingerprinting exemption letter

Hello:

I live in the state of Virginia.I've applied for citizenship on Feb 9th 2009, through Lewisville Texas. The applicaiton was then fwded to the National Benefits Center. My first NOA was sent to me on Feb 19th 2009. A couple of weeks ago, having not received a fingerpringing appointment, I called customer service. The IO told me that I normally should've received a fingerprinting appointment within 30 days of mailing my application, and that he was going to send an inquiry to my local office. 2 days ago, I received notification from my local office (Fairfax, VA) that the fingerprints I took last year in March 2008 during my I-751 process were still valid and that I would therefore not be receiving a fingerprinting appointment. Does that seem weird to anyone? I have a friend in Minnesota who took her I-751 fingerprint in April 08, and she just received her new fingerprinting appointment for the N-400. Oh,and one last thing, in the meantime, I have also received a letter from the NBC, printed on yellow paper, asking me to bring my passport to the interview, but no interview notice yet.

Please advise if you think I'm needlessly worrying, or if I should investigate this further.

Thanks!

You shouldn't worry. I read in this forum that fingerprints sometimes are valid for up to 15 or 18 months. Since Fairfax processes N-400s within three or four months at the moment, your fingerprints still should be valid by the time your interview comes around. Actually, since you received a yellow letter with the document checklist already, you should receive an invitation for the interview soon. So, don't worry and be happy that your applications seems to be processed even faster.

If you check the threads from previous months, you will see that other people skipped fingerprinting, too, and went to the interview right away. I know there's one case like that with the January filers and I think there's one with the November filers.

Good luck!
