Hi Group

I am a UK citizen and my fiancée is a permanent resident who has recently applied for citizenship. All being well, when this is granted we hope to apply for a K1 visa for myself as we plan to get married and live in Florida.

My question is he submitted a N400 application through a lawyer at the end of January however, he has not received anything since not even a NOA, neither has the cheque been cashed. I regularly check this forum and starting to get a bit anxious, as it seems that we should of heard something by now? Apparently, his application was submitted to the Texas office

Thanks for your help

That is a long time and he should have received a NOA and maybe even an invitation for fingerprinting already. Was the lawyer smart enough to mail the application certified with return receipt? That way you could have tracked the letter and would have proof it has been delivered. My guess is that your fiance is paying quite a bit of money to the lawyer. Make him work for it and have him find out what's going on.

I had the same situation last year!

I applied in august and didn't hear anything for 2 months and more. I kept calling USCIS cust. service line, but they couldn't tell me anything and just said to keep waiting! Finally I got sick and tired of it and contacted my local senator for help. A week later, thanks to the senator's office I got and answer! It turned out that I had typed my name instead of signing it and they had return my application for that! I never received it back and assumed that the post office services had lost it. What was really stupid was that I called USCIS so many times to ask what is going on and no one was even able to tell me that they have returned my application! So I waisted 3 months with that and finally had to apply all over again!

I strongly suggest that if your lawyer can't help you, to contact your husband's local senator for help as soon as possible, specially having in mind that even the check hasn't been cashed!!! Good luck!
