View the N-400 as a combination of the AOS and the I-751, yes, I know it sounds ridiculous, same old stuff, but the key word is joint. Used our color printer and included all personal ID's like the drivers' license for both of us on one sheet, shows we have the same address, not seeing any joint property or insurance in your list nor utility bills. Utility bills seems crazy, but know of people that were denied because they didn't present them. But joint health and insurance is good evidence, because no insurance company will let you slap anyone on your policy, you need proof. Proof such as lease or home ownership that you share the responsibility of a common household is practically mandatory, know also of friends that were rejected without that proof. They don't ask for letters of affadavits, but it helps.

Our timing was bit off with our CD's, but did toss in the latest during the interview, as the last statement we could send in was in 2007, wife's IO wanted to see something with 2008 on it, we had that, just a pain in the a$$ with all the other joint ownership, joint checking account, joint insurance, joint tax returns, etc., that we had, and I was even there, but her IO didn't want to meet me. You can run into some bastards, so better to have too much than too little.

Hello NickD,

I have a question. We have our auto insurance together for a long time, eventhough switching insurance companies, but we do have that auto insurance history even before we were married. Now for health insurance, each of our job provided each of us the insurance for free (employee benefits), you know his job gave him the insurance for free and my job gave me the insurance for free as well, if we want to add spouse to either one company, first it costs us extra money because only employee is covered but spouse is not covered, second it's redundancy if we can both get them for free. Now for life insurance, we are still young and no family history like cancer or heart problems, etc. We don't want to get the life insurance since we don't anticipate of us dying, I mean of course one can argue "accident" is something you can't anticipate, but we are penny pinching under current economy. Do you think the long history of auto insurance is going to be enough for USCIS? Or we definitely have to get the health and life insurance?

Another thing, I think joint utility bills are crazy requirement too. I didn't have any joint utility bills back then but still got the 2 yr conditional GC. But after I filed my I-751, I got kind of worried and paranoid, then I added my hubby's name on the electricity and cable TV. I don't understand why USCIS sees those as evidence? I think those are very easily fabricated. I just told the utilities company to add the name and they do it without asking any questions, I mean I could put whoever I want to, what's the point? I don't see those prove anything and USCIS wants them as like a "must have". Still don't understand how's the game played.

Thank you sincerely in advance for any help!

Same here..We never had joint utility and never had a problem to get 2 years green card and permanent green card.. I don't think they care about it that much.. and also we don't have health or life insurance together.. i didn't send any insurance to removing conditional but car insurance

i mean i know so many people just sending tax returns with N-400. and they got their citizenship..
