Hello,

After reading some of the postings about others experiences with the NVC, I noted that the NVC message I get is different.

Its says:

"Your case number was entered into the NVC computer on the 12th March. The case number assigned by the NVC is and it says my number. Please allow 6-8 weeks for the beneficiary to receive notification"

I don't understand what the Please allow 6-8 weeks for the beneficiary to receive notification means? When I spoke to NVC operator earlier this week, they said that the DS 3032 has been sent so she told me just to email them.

It seems everyone elses automatic voice actually says "DS3032 generated"?

Am I just being paranoid - or is there something I should be worrying about??????

Thanks MMW for putting my mind at rest.

Does that mean they have sent the AOS bill also? I asked them when I spoke to them a couple of days ago and they sent no. But it seems you got your DS3032 and AOS bill together?

Hope you can help.

Cheers, Corinne

Yes the petitioner should get both together. When they sent my wife's I received both together it will be 2 letters in the same envelope (that's what I got). And don't worry if it hasn't arrived yet, mine took 2 weeks to arrive. Just do the DS-3032 by email so that the beneficiary side will be on same time as AOS time table. I would suggest you just do the email and then download the DS-230 and I-864 packages from online and start preparing the documents. Read the CR-1 flow chart on the wiki as well as the short cuts it will save you weeks if not months on NVC process. Being prepared ahead of time is the key to a fast NVC step.

You'll get a response to your ds3032 email n 5-7 days. The AOS bill you receive in the mail will have the IIN # so you can pay that bill online. They are not giving the IIN number over the phone, some have gotten it but many didn't. Just wait for it in the mail, it doesn't slow the case completion down at all. Goodluck.

I am sorry if I sound thick but it either doesn't make sense of I have misunderstood.

  • Is the DS3032 sent to the benefiary or petition?

Also, I don't understand the point of nominating an Agent? Why isn't this nomiated on the I-130? And what is the point of having the mail sent to them if the Agent has to send things to the Beneficiary overseas?

  • Is the AOS Bill sent to the sent to the benefiary or petitioner?
  • I know that the I-864 is sent from the Petitioner, but I don't undestand how on some peoples time lines they are sending both the I-864 and DS230 together when the petitioner is in a another country? Should I send my completed DS230 to my hubby in the US, or can I send it directly to the NVC?

Hope you can help clarify.

I am sorry if I sound thick but it either doesn't make sense of I have misunderstood.

  • Is the DS3032 sent to the benefiary or petition?

Hey Corinne. I just got DS-3032 (petitioner) and I also know my husband (beneficiary) got it as well. We got it via email since I called and provided email address for both petitioner and beneficiary after I got my NVC case#.

Also, I don't understand the point of nominating an Agent? Why isn't this nomiated on the I-130? And what is the point of having the mail sent to them if the Agent has to send things to the Beneficiary overseas?

Some people like to hire lawyers to go through this process. If you've a lawyer, then he/she is automatically assigned as agent by NVC. I don't know why agent is not nominated at the time of I-130. Hopefully someone else in VJ knows.

  • Is the AOS Bill sent to the sent to the benefiary or petitioner?

    Both. Just got them today.

  • I know that the I-864 is sent from the Petitioner, but I don't undestand how on some peoples time lines they are sending both the I-864 and DS230 together when the petitioner is in a another country? Should I send my completed DS230 to my hubby in the US, or can I send it directly to the NVC?

Lot of times, people assign Petitioner as an agent. This way, the email/mail process goes faster. What I've done is, I've asked all the things fro my husband (beneficiary) to send to me. This includes filled out and signed (but not dated) DS-3032 forms, DS-230 forms. I've also asked him to send me his birth certificate, PCC, etc (everything required from beneficiary for DS-230 forms). This way I, the petitioner, will send both DS-230 and AOS (I-864). I think that's what those other people's timeline probably means. If you're a beneficiary, you can certainly send the DS-230 package to NVC directly, no need to send it to hubby if you don't want to.

Hope you can help clarify.

I know there are guides but sometimes its not easy to follow.

I agree with everything MMW has said. To answer some of your questions:

The DS3032 is sent to both the petitioner and beneficiary but you do not need to wait for the hard copy. (In fact I did not receive my hard copy here in Canada until after our case had been completed!) You can email them your choice of agent response and download the form from the Department of State website, make your own bar-code from the shortcut instructions and follow up the email with a hard copy.

The choice of agent is dealt with by NVC because once your file is approved USCIS turns over all processing to NVC. The purpose of having the petitioner in the US act as the agent is that mail generally will reach them more quickly than to an overseas address. Now that NVC is moving to email corespondence that may be less of an issue.

We sent both the I-864 and DS-230 together to avoid a false RFE and to ensure that all our forms stayed together. You can mail them separately if you choose but again it had been mainly easier for most to use overnight delivery with USPS. Since the DS230 can be prepared ahead of time the US spouse can have it ready to go once the IV fee is paid and the coversheet is printed.

Hope this helps. It does seem very confusing at first but as you move through the steps it will all start to make sense.

Good luck!
