My wife currently resides in the UK with me on with LLR. She has a job in the UK, and filed her taxes for this year with the US. Becuase her job is in the UK I understand that she does not meet the income requirement for the I-864. therefore we have a co-sponsor to aid us with the visa..

My question is, should my wife send her last tax return transcript (although it was for a job in the UK) seeing as her employment in the UK doesnt count ?

And do we mark her has been unemployed on the form ?... seeing as she has no US based income. UK only..

lquin,

Your wife should indicate her employment status and related information as it exists at the time that she signs and dates her I-864.

Her past tax returns have some value as an indication that she is employable and is capable of earning a certain level of income. That doesn't make up for not having a job in the USA, she will still need a Joint Sponsor, but it's not entirely useless information. And in any event, it's required information.
