Hi Fatima!!! Thanks for sharing this info although I already have my MRP. Last Sept 2007 when I applied for a passport that was when the new PP...I appeared twice during that time.

Why they need appearance for the new MRP:

1. They want us to check to make sure all of the information is correct before they print.

2. Since there is no signature page in our new MRP, they need our signature and they are going to scan it and it will appear in our record.

3. Finger prints are required.

Therefore, I advise some of fellow VJ's who are still waiting for their approval that if they are still holding the green passport although it has at least 2yrs before it will expire to get the MRP to avoid hastle in renewing here in US most especially when you are very far from the state where the Consulate Office is. There is no problem with your single name appeared in your passport even though you are already married...

Thank you!!!

I would say that having to personally appear at the Philippines Embassy for the renewal is RETARDED! What is the deal? I dont even understand what makes the green passport special than the new one. We all personally appeared for the passport. The MRP is even more reliable as it is. This is so dumb. I swear part of me wants to puke out the fact that I have a country that has a backward system. This is disgusting and so impractical.

I have the green passport by the way. I have plans to go home after my conditional GC is issued and I am wondering if it would be an issues at re-entry when I still have my maiden name on my passport as I don't intend to renew until I am naturalized, if this is the case in the States for passport renewal.
