Hi I have the same problem but with I-751 application. I had an appointment for interview on Apr 6th 2008 for removal of conditions on green card.

The officer tells me I have some bad news and tells me that my A-file is missing. He is not very serious and tells that It may be found , some of officers might not have logged in the location information correctly and so on... I really dont know what to do and while searching came across your post. I know it has been a few days only, but I also have a N-400 filed just a month ago as I satisfied the 3 year residency requirement. Scared that both my applications might be stalled for a while. Any help or information appreciated.

Thanks,

viji

Wife got to see her over 3" high file at her USC interview, has been a panic to us that some documents will be misplaced in this very long process. If they lose some of your evidence, that you can do something about, but if they lose documents from other agencies, not a thing you can do about that, except wait. Read of cases here where they lost the biometrics and requested the applicant has those redone. The miracle about this is that they didn't want an extra 80 bucks.

I really hate dealing with any government agency, they are all like this. When I have to deal with them, set up a file, make all duplicate copies, keep all receipts and anything that applies to that case, you are always stuck with the burden of proof. We use the term, you have to cover your a$$, shouldn't be that way, but it is.
