Abused since Arrival to US PLEASE HELP

Hi guys, i have a friend who just came here from vietnam with his son. his wife filed a I-130 to bring him over with a IR-1 visa. since he came here (7 months ago) she has been abusing him everyday. she would kick him and his son out of the house all the time and they would have to come spent the night at my house. she would not feed the son. she is the step mom. she kept all his paperwork (green card) threaten to call the police and tell them that he hit her (police tends to believe the female, no offense ladies). she threaten to deport him and his son back to vietnam if he dont listen to her. last month there was a big snow storm, and he was kicked out of the house. he and his son had to wander around in the streets. this lady is pure evil. anyways, last week i help him get a restraining order from this crazy woman. the judge granted him a temporary restraining order. he got a police escort to go get his stuff back. however, she told the police officer that this is all his stuff (2 pair of jeans and shirts) everything else belongs to her, she bought it. and she claims that she dont have his paper work.

Now, can you guys offer any advice for this poor man? its bad enough he cant speak english and dont have any family over here. he dont have a place to live (temporary staying at my place), trying to find a local shelter for him. is this a violation of the I-864?..when she filled out the sponsorship. is there anything USCIS can do about it? all aid out there that can help this man? any comments would help you guys

i can't believe it....

if i was living over there already i would propose him if i can do something...and at least, care for the child.

damn, it almost bring tears.. really, i am sorry i am a mom and i have a son..and of course, can't help but imagining myself in such situation with my son. I am not very helpful, but he should report those abuses. no free lawyer over there?

He needs to address his wife's bullying head on. Meaning, he needs to find an advocacy group group (church or other) to help him to understand his rights and then come back at her with some strength. He needs to know that she can't deport him. Shame on her, or any spouse, for playing that card.

If you're in Boston/Lowell (looking at OP's profile) then the VN community is big enough for him to find resources as well as non VN specific help. Since he can't speak English at this point the VN community makes the most sense.

Help him find the Viet language newspaper (can't find one here at the house to get the name) to locate some support and chack out the organizations below:

I was reading your timeline and it was written there that your application was transferred to the service center last December. If u dont mind, may i ask why. I just want to know coz My husband and I submitted our I-130 last March 12 to the California Service Center and until now we havent heard anything yet. althogh we read that all applications must be submitted to Chicago, we still sent it to the California Service center. Please any piece of advise will really be appreciated. Thank you.

I'm really not sure why it got transferred, they did that all on their own. I submitted my I130 to the Chicago Lockbox, and because of where I live it got transferred to Vermont Service Center (VSC). From what I read in these forums, the VSC transferred their overload to California Service Center (CSC) which was making faster processing dates, but it seemed that only applicants who filed just for CR1 (not K3) got transferred. I imagine there might be confusion as to getting your I130 application at CSC instead of the Chicago Lockbox, if I were you I would try calling USCIS to ask what recourse you might have. If the wife is hidding the GC (I am assuming both husband and child) and she told police she does not have them, then your friend may report them as lost or stolen through a I-90 form, just have it sent to a different address. I think is better for him to stay away from her until he gets divorced, she may make up any kind of story to get him in more trouble.
