Not bring original copy to interview?

I have a question for those who have already had their interview...

You know how you are supposed to bring the original copy of your birth certificate, divorce and marriage papers and all that? Did they ask for those at your interview????? I was going thru the invitation letter last week (I know late, but we just had a baby and we've been so busy) and realized I need the original of my divorce certificate, but I don't have it, it is still in Belgium, I had my parents scan and send it to me. I asked them to sent it to me last week but I guess I didn't get it on time. So Im just hoping they wont ask for it, or will they guaranteed??

What happens if they do ask for it and I can't give it to them?

I don't want to scare you, but if you read the topic I posted after my interview, "RFE at the interview " you will see that they do ask for originals. That's one of the main reasons for the interview - to make sure your original documents are valid and not fake. This doesn't mean they WILL ask specifically for this one - it depends what doc the IO wants to see. They don't ask to have a look at ALL the originals. There's no way to predict what they will ask to see.

As you can't get your document on time, just relax and pray for them not to ask for it. In case they do, and you don't have it, they will give you the chance to send it to them (as I got - a RFE at the interview). In my case, they gave me 30 days to send the missing original document, but I read here on VJ they can give you more time if it's a difficult doc to get.
