ugh liverpool won this weekend so there is just no living with my husband at the moment. my mom is shattered man u lost. o for goodness sakes how long until american football is back?

I am American and I don't like American football. It is just too boring. For me it tends to go like this: kickoff, COMMERCIAL, run 3-9 plays and punt or score, COMMERCIAL, other team fields the ball via kick or punt, COMMERCIAL. Repeat that about 30 times and you've got a football game. Everything is brought to you by this or that...just go ahead and put logos on the jerseys like they do in soccer in order to cut down on commercials, it is just too much. And cut the play clock by about 10 seconds...the game moves too slow.

I prefer soccer and basketball, sports that have constant movement. If I want to watch something more relaxing I will watch baseball because that's intended to be slow, but football is a fast game that has been slown down by commercial interests.

As you can see by the post above, my lady loves her some Soccer, er, I mean football. I love both sports but I can't say that I love them equally since they both give something different to the spectator. I can say that I've been an American football fan longer and have followed the game more closely than soccer. However, through the years and watching the rivalry between USA and Mexico and watching European soccer I've grown quite fond of soccer, er, football in the last decade or so. And still to this day, there is not a spectacle in sports greater than the World Cup. The Olympics, maybe but there a million and 1 events in the Olympics so it doesn't count.

I don't like to compare American football with football and argue over which sport is better. I love both so what can I say? But I will agree with you here. This is the only way that I believe that football is superior to American football. The endless commercials are so annoying to me! I understand that they need to sell advertising and all that and I understand that the nature of the two sports are different. American athletes are built for speed and power and not so much endurance so they can't handle 15 minutes of constant play without many breaks in between, especially the 300+ lbs. monsters. Not to mention that the American football involves a lot of hitting so there needs to be time given for at least a small recovery. I get it. But the constant movement and the creativity and skill that it takes to conjure up attacks, defensive plays and counter attacks without the constant aid from the coach/manager is a beautiful thing to watch, especially when it's done at the highest skill level.

With all that said I only have one thing to add...
