Hey everybody,

I just read different topics here and now I'm kinda lost !

I arrived 3 weeks ago in the US with the K1 visa. I'm french, and of course I had a complete medical exam in Paris before my interview at the embassy.

Everything was perfect and I have some documents that my doctor gave me :

- DS-3025 (vaccination documentation worksheet)

- My blood test results (HIV and Syhilis)

- My chest X-ray

In the step by step forum for the AOS, I read that I don't need to send the I-693 because my medical exam was 1 month ago.

Apparently I just need the I-693A.

I called different civil surgeons in my area and they don't give this form. They just have the I-693 and the basic price is 110$ !

The different surgeons said that if I bring all my documents I won't have to do everything again so I won't have extra charge, so it will be ONLY 110$

I already paid almost 200$ in Paris for the official medical exam.

What do you guys think ? What is the point with "K1 holder don't have to do medical again for AOS ?

Do you think that copies of my french results might be enough ?

Do you know guys where are our medical folders that the immigration officier kept when we entered the USA ?

Thank you for your replies.

Juliette

The I-683 is no longer valid. You HAVE to submit the I-693. $110 isn't that bad of a price. Dr Arnold however does the trip for $30.

My husband had his medical exam in juarez b4 he came here to the U.S, just like you, we were able to find a civil surgeon that (once we took the paperwork for the Adjustment of status, stating in the directions --that if you recieved a medical (as required by all K-1 applicants) that only the vaccination record is required, (because your complete medical is what was in the manilla folder that you had to hand over at your point of entry in the U.S) so all that you need is your vaccinaton report. WHen i called, i explained that my husband didnt need the whole medical, and the secretary said that it was going to be 100, for just the vaccinations, she also told me to bring the instructions for the AOS paperwork saying that he only needed his vacciation record transcribed and i brought that, showd it to the secretary and to the doctor and they were fine with it, i translated the vaccines, she gave me the I-693 i paid the 100 dollar fee and we were on our way, she was ver uderstanding about it. What if you just explain the situation, saying that as a k-1 it was required fo you to have the medical outside of the country, and now it is required for you to just have your vaccinations transcribed, offer to bring the directions, maybe that will help.

I did the same thing.. I told them at first that I only needed the vaccination records from my DS-3025 transcribe to the I-693 Vaccination Record Form. They insisted that I needed Chest Xray, they did however conducted the TB skin test and HIV, Syphilis blood test again.. I paid $90 for the whole thing plus getting the civil surgeon sign my papers. When they told me I needed the Chest Xray, I told them that I shouldnt need the entire medical, I showed them the instructions paper for the I-693 that clearly states, if you've had your medical within 1 year that you're submitting your AOS, you only need the vaccination records. I should have told them that in the beginning but they were very insistent that they've done it over 100times and know the procedures, etc. But they are requiring me for additional tests, I made my point and showed the doctor the paper and he said that if that's what you want I can do that. I told him, well, that's what stated on the paper from USCIS.

Good Luck!

You can take the form to your local County Health Dept where they will give the shots required, sign & stamp the form. Our was done for 21 bucks for the 3 additional shots required. You may not need additional shots at all depending on what was doen if France. You can just ask that the shots you had be transcribed on the form & that they sign.

Easier said than done!

Most CS will want you to fork over for a medical exam, office visit, whatever they can find to charge you for things you do not need.

It's a conspiracy out there and proves the point that most CS are there for the money, and not to help you.

We were quoted up to $225 for just the vaccination part, something that some CS charge $20 or $25 for - fair price.

I can understand that a CS you pay $100 for a 5-mn work would be "very understanding about the whole thing" (GueraKristina). Unfortunately not all of us have money to throw at these so-called CS. $100 is a rip-off!

I ended up sending the immunization docs to Dr. Arnold for $30.

I received the sealed envelope today. Note that he will only fill out the immunization part, he will not fill out the TB part, which may not be needed (this is still unclear among VJ'ers).
