Hey everyone,

Does anyone know how long it takes to get back the embassy packet that we handed immigration at the POE? My fiance entered Boston on Feb 21.

Thanks!

You will not get the embassy packet back, the packet will be forwarded to your nearest USCIS office. This is answered in the VJ FAQ:

http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1k2visa-enter.html

5.2.1...Does anyone know exactly what happens to this wad of papers in the brown envelope (after) the USCIS (INS) at POE goes through them?

A..It is sent to the USCIS (INS) district office closest to where you will reside, which will be the office handling your case once in the USA.

(NOTE: the envelope may "transit" through one of the Service Centers, but it will end up at your local office at some point in your adjustment of status process - i.e. when you apply to be a permanent resident)

Naturalization

3/23/14 - N400 package sent to Phoenix

3/27/14 - N400 package delivered

4/3/14 - NOA1 receipt date

4/4/14 - check cashed

04/29/14 - biometrics date

07/01/14 - interview date

xx/xx/xx - Oath Ceremony

You don't get anything back. Nothing in there that you need.

  1. Get married
  2. File AOS as soon as you can.
