It is not legal to work in the U.S. with a tourist visa.

It is not legal to use a tourist visa intending to immigrate.

Getting caught working with a tourist visa will get the visa revoked, deportation, and a 5 year ban.

Once you get tourist visa, it simply about pleasure, visiting places. Its not allowed to work legally. Unless, they do backjob with less payment. Documents needed as far as I know, bank statement, properties, valid reason that you going to come back before visa expires. I don't know if it will be asked some circumstances like, What are the places you've been to? ANd say none yet, so why you choose america and you haven't been to asian countries, I'm not sure though, just a friend of mine told me this. You will be asked tricky question......For sure they will be asked how long you gonna stay, what are you going to do when you arrive, where you going to stay stuff like that

(Jai Ho)No there is nothing that can stop us(Jai Ho)

Nothing can ever come between us,(Jai Ho)

So come and dance with me,

Jai Ho! (oohh)

She has the answer to everything and the solution to nothing

Tourist Visa is not work authorized - A tourist can not legally work, nor can a company legally hire a tourist (or otherwise non-work authorized alien). If they do end up working - it is done so illegally.

It is not legal to work with a tourist visa and if they get caught doing so they will have a very hard time if they ever try to come back to the US. If they are ask about working at anytime during any interview make sure they do not say they want to work. They have to remember the visa is only to visit family, tour as in tourist visa.

Per Wikepedia:

Illegal

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Illegal, or unlawful, is used to describe something that is prohibited or not authorized by law or, more generally, by rules specific to a particular situation (such as a game).

I think you are trying to use a play on words for your post.

Try the Oxforfd Dictionary meaning:

illegal • adjective contrary to or forbidden by law.

There are a million words in the English language and it is easy to be confused.

It is illegal to work with a tourist visa it is for pleasure 'to have a good time' but I believed a lot of tourist do that accepting jobs under the table. They should be careful and say NO if they are asked if they are going to work. They need to convince the Consul that they are gonna comeback before the Visa expires that they have strong ties in Philippines such as businesses, attending school, properties in Philippines etc. It's hard to get tourist visa in Philippines though so goodluck to your uncle.

Yes, not legal and illegal both. Wikipedia is good, but their definiton included unlawful, which is a broader definition than illegal.

Maybe too much information lol.

Reading between the lines. It seems that your uncle has plan to work in New York. And just verifying that if he mentions this during the interview, he is asking the probable consequences. One consequence is denial of visa.

All i can say, stick with the activities of a typical tourist.
