I would agree in principle with Gordon that making the happy couple separate for 6 months is not fair.....but.... I would also venture to propose....

What if every US couple had to be separated for 6 months and then had to provide proof of a meeting and proof of an ongoing relationship and then....have to go through an interview that determined the legitimacy of the relationship?

I'd bet many US marriages would not survive this test. Maybe not so bad a thing after all??!!!!

With all due respect, I think it's ridiculous when someone tries to make the case for less human rights for the people.

Yes, people are stupid, but it is no one's business to tell me who and when I should marry someone. Want to correct people? Improve their education and critical thinking!

It is no one's business to tell me how I should live my personal life. If I want to do drugs in privacy without interfering with anyone's life, I should be able to. If I want to be with someone I like, when I like, I should be able to.

I do very much thank you HelloWorld08 for your in put I am at a little disadvantage with you in the respect that I have none for politician's they are parasites sucking the blood out of this country and only in DC for the money they can put in their pocket with no respect for the working people of America. Where else can you go to work for 8 years and retire with full pay for the rest of your life. Although I do have an advantage over all the people here on this site because I happen to know my senator personally since 1970 when he was the mayor of my city he knows what I am getting at.I feel everyone here is totally missing my point though. i get your point and Im all for advocating and raising hell...in a respectful manner so it doesnt fall on deaf ears, i think that is what evryone is driving at.

But if businesses are run by people, then you are controlling people. Gordon, you can not have your cake and eat it too.

My point is that many people should not be with each other and that using only your lower head to think is not the best way to go into a relationship.

I am sure if many US marriages had to go through the tests that we choose to go through via the VJ process, those marriages would not have the substance to deal with it. I do speak from my own experience and observations.

I'll probably sound arrogant to you right now. I was born with a fantastic IQ and I am more intelligent than most people in this society. See, MY point is that I don't deserve to enjoy less freedom to be with a loved one, just because most people are too stupid to even understand the relationships they get in.

I understand what you're saying. All I'm saying is, no one should have the right to stick me in the cage with all the other animals. So I say release them all. Give everyone the freedom to make their choices in this situation.

Does it hurt you if they make wrong choices, or marry the wrong person? No. Does it affect you if they are allowed to do it without having to face long time separation and suffering? No, it doesn't. However you put it, it doesn't affect any of you. It's not going to stop terrorism, it's not going to make America safe. It's all an illusion. And restricting your own liberty is a lot more dangerous than any suicide bomber.

Wow, what a thread..........

With so many inaccuracies, it makes me cringe.....

First of all, USCs wishing to marry someone from another country did not cause 9/11. Or even for that matter our Immigration challenges.......

Maybe apathy, but not the pursuit of happiness. So don't mix these......

And I will not start talking about the ease of getting a visa in other countries. If you do not know, please do not comment. I only know the process for about 15 countries and they are all much more simple than ours....do the research.

But Helloworld did great to show a form letter that more concisely and respectfully addressed the situation.

Will letters improve the Immigration process? Time can only tell and only our new administration can adequately address this in the short term....

I too have served in the military in both the Air Force and Navy, so some of us have done more than lip service for our country. So to each his own, but if you haven't been shot at while wearing a US Flag on your arm, be careful who you address about defending the security of this country. Respect is something, I found more often overseas then here. I have only traveled around this world 4 times mostly with the military, but we hopefully are all on the same side here.

There needs to be change in the Immigration process. Congress knows it and there are plenty of threads to back this up!

Each person has his own calling, you don't need me or anyone else to tell you to do what is right......

I make most of my comments on CFL, since each consulate/embassy is different although in theory -- all should be the same from the Service centers to the issue of the visa. But they are not. The law is the same but interpreted differently and administered differently.

But again, you do not need me to tell you this. Do the research and I hope you will soon be joined with your SO.

And time is valued differently with each individual. So when I see some disregarding this due only to their perspective, it is simply showing disrespect.

The months of separation affects each of us differently and trying to quantify it is meaningless to those concerned.
