Well its now been 7 months since we sent in our application, still no touch since it was sent in. Sent a letter to congresswoman about 10 days ago, heard nothing. My husband has called customer services tried to expedite the case (also for the fact that i was recently made redundant due to financial situation in UK) but no help there...basically said no. Then he called them yesterday and customer services said "all you can do is wait. It takes about 9-12 months to be approved, you should count yourself lucky its only that, some people have been waiting since 2005"

well thanks for the help love

sorry i just had to express how much this situation is getting me angry and sad. as its seeming ridiculous now.

why do they have 6 months on processing times if its really 9-12 months!!!

any advice on what more we can do? the lady at customer services said there was no point making an appointment at the office to check the status as they wont help. my hubby thought he couls take my letter of redundancy and show them, as its not easy trying to get another job when you have to tell the truth that you will (hopefully) be leaving the UK soon! I doubt they would care though.

They really should expedite it just for bein over processing time. But they said no just wait.

Spoken like someone who gets to see her husband every night with no worries. You have my sympathy, I hope you get some assistance soon. You've waited long enough. :(

Did you ask for the service request yet? That should tell you if you're in security checks or not.

If you are (like we were) there's not a great deal you can do about it.

If you aren't, just keep bugging the congressman. They should be able to kickstart things into motion.

Good luck

I dont know if this will help but I was in the same situation I had been 11 months. I got very frustrated and sent emails with no help. I called my congressman and they were a little help but then I called the white house. they answered the phone and said they could not help me but they transferred my call to the state dept. They saw the transfer from the white house and they were very helpful. they said they would try to help. my papers were approved the next day and my family is here with me now.. it cant hurt to try this. good luck

Yay! for going big!

I think you need to first do a service request, and request an expedite due to being outside the posted processing times. Your husband may get another operator that is actually helpful. It really does make a difference in who you talk to.

Also, keep hounding the congressman to do a formal DETAILED inquiry. Not the standard "in process" answer that he/she will get the first time.

Good Luck and I hope you get an answer soon

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Contrary to popular belief, there is nothing you can do, All these government officials do is look it up in the computer like you do. USCIS has its own kindom, they are intouchable, and now its a waiting game. Sorry to break the news to you but I have been there and done that.

They can get answers that we cant. THAT is what they can do. :) They have a congressional liason at the service centers, they deal strictly with inquiries. They can give information that you would NEVER get from the script reading operators or officers at USCIS.

If your congressman just got online and checked status, thats pretty sad. It does depend on the willingness and competence of the congressman's office; but they arent all like that. I assure you. :)

i dont know i have contacted everyone including both Pres. of the USA that have held office thru out our ordeal and we are still sitting here getting crappy answers that never match from customer service and if we are really lucky given to a supervisor that also gives crappy answers that dont match what the last one has said. I think it is all about luck really

When you call USCIS, there will be a prompt saying: "if you believe your case is outside of normal processing times..." follow that and you should get an operator. Say that your case is outside the posted times and you would like to put in a service request or expedite if possible.

the trick is polite persistence :D

Good Luck and keep us posted.

You'll find out like we all did that the net effect of these special staff members is zero. Why do you suppose they have such a staff that deals with USCIS? They are there to placate the USC not to force any action or attention to the case.

Those of us that tried this found out we were wasting our time.

Those that advocate this type of action should give a detailed explantion of exactly what they did & exactly what positive affect it had on thier own case. I notice no one does that.

Please do keep us posted on the actual outcome of thier involvement.

Your case is no different than thousands of others in the processing time.
