That's good news. Now just give them 16 years to save us from the baby boom crisis and social security issues.

It would be sweet but with the high rate of these births being from single mothers.....we know

from stats they are too often more likely to absorb public funds rather than contribute, as the earlier Baby-Boomers did.

This was an odd mention at the end of the story.

<<<In yet another record high, the share of deliveries by Caesarean section reached 32 percent in 2007, up 2 percent from 2006. Experts have repeatedly said some C-sections are not medically necessary and impose excess costs, but the rate has steadily climbed, from 21 percent in 1996.>>>

What is the reason for that?

I will let other speculate.

Hospitals can charge insurance companies more for C-sections than natural birth. At that point of the delivery, no woman is going to fight with the doctor.

Once you have one C-section, the rest have to be c-sections also.

To maintain ones....ehem! Musculature.

Have you heard talk that this is this something women are electing to do for this reason?

The 4,317,000 births in 2007 just edged out the figure for 1957, at the height of the baby boom. The increase reflected a slight rise in childbearing by women of all ages, including those in their 30s and 40s, and a record share of births to unmarried women.

But in contrast with the culturally transforming postwar boom, when a smaller population of women bore an average of three or four children, the recent increase mainly reflects a larger population of women of childbearing age, said Stephanie J. Ventura, chief of reproductive statistics at the center and an author of the new report. Today, the average woman has 2.1 children.

The population was far smaller in 1957 and this new baby boomlet doesn't come close to being a true increase in TFR. The births to unmarried women doesn't bother me until these women expect government programs to make up for the daddy who left town.

How many of those were births by illegal aliens?

good question.

That would be interesting.

2007 will be known as the horniest year for Americans.

Or the largest number of anchor babies ever.

-----------

Here's a stat for a start: Welcome welfare generation. :dancing:

The new report also found that the share of births to unmarried women of all ages reached a record high of 40 percent of all births in 2007,

.......

Racial and ethnic differences remain large: 28 percent of white babies were born to unmarried mothers in 2007, compared with 51 percent of Hispanic babies and 72 percent of black babies.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Cannot wait to see in 15 years time how this too will be blamed on historical events and the white man keeping the blackman down.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
