BROWNSVILLE, Texas, March 17 (UPI) -- Authorities say a Fort Worth, Texas, man was charged after customs officials allegedly found his Mexican wife hiding in a speaker box in their car's back seat. Customs officers "routinely find narcotics hidden in a vehicle but in this case, it was the driver's wife," Michael Freeman, a spokesman for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, said to the San Antonio Express-News.

Christopher Sean Protho, 36, was charged with alien smuggling after his arrest Sunday at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge, the Express-News reported Tuesday.

Protho's wife, 33, from Matamoros, didn't have immigration papers to enter the United States and is in federal custody pending deportation proceedings, Freeman told the newspaper.

Interview Date: 11/08/09 (APPROVED!)

Visa in Hand: 11/12/09

POE: 01/30/10 (!!!!) at JFK Airport in NYC... can't wait!

Got the green card maybe 8 weeks after 01/30/10...

April 21,2008-K-1 visa denied.
June 3,2008-waiver filed at US Consalate in Panama
The interview went well,they told him it will take another 6 months for them to adjudicate the waiver
March 3,2009-US Consulate claims they have no record of our December visit,nor Manuel's interview
March 27,2009-Manuel returned to the consulate for another interrogation(because they forgot about December's interview),and they were really rude !
April 3,2009-US Counsalate asks for more court documents that no longer exist !
June 1,2009-Manuel and I go back to the US consalate AGAIN to give them a letter from the court in Colon along with documents I already gave them last year.I was surprised to see they had two thick files for his case !


June 15,2010-They called Manuel in to take his fingerprints again,still no decision on his case!
June 22,2010-WAIVER APPROVED at 5:00pm
July 19,2010-VISA IN MANUELITO'S HAND at 3:15pm!
July 25,2010-Manuelito arrives at 9:35pm at Logan Intn'l Airport,Boston,MA
August 5,2010-FINALLY MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!
August 23,2010-Filed for AOS at the International Institute of RI $1400!
December 23,2010-Work authorization received.
January 12,2011-RFE

Or maybe they were just really uninformed and thought that if they could just get her to the US, they could file AOS and get her a GC. If that's the case...its sad because they probably screwed their chances of getting a spousal visa...at least for a while. Isn't there some kind of ban that comes w/ getting caught at such a thing as this?

That's what I meant, they probably were just that stupid. Something this important, misinformed (and acting on that) = stupid.

this is even funnier... another mexican was trying to enter the US illegally, they were found hiding in the glove compartment, thinking the heat radiating from the engine was going to keep the police from checking out the glove compartment, and when they did, they found the mexican head
