We have received NOA1 but I've already asked for my police clearance now since it's valid for 1 year and am filling out all the forms they will send in order to have them ready when they ask.

Can I do the same with the Medical OR should I wait until they tell me to get it?

How long would the medical be valid for?

Any idea who the Dr (Dr's) are in Calgary and if it takes a long time to get an appointment.

I'm trying to get ducks in a row prior to receivings packets, so we can turn them around quickly and "beat the system" lol.

The medical is valid for 1 year.... And I think, but I may be wrong, the medical can only now be done in VCR, TOR, MTL. Not Calgary. It used to be done in many more cities and for some reason they got cut down.

Oh great - already bad enough to have to fly to Montreal for the interview, but now will have to go to (Vancouver?) for medical. BAH! LOL

Where is there a list of Civil Surgens for Canada? I can't find one anywhere.

I'm pretty certain that you're right Jill, only Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto do medical exams now. Cindy- If you're going with a K1 or K3 visa then you would be wise to get the medical done at the same time as your interview when you're there. I mean, either way that's what you'll have to do, unless you can afford to make two trips! The doctor's office was very accomodating when I was there in April 2008. They usually only do appointments on Wednesday mornings though, so hopefully, if you have your interview in Van, it will be on a Tuesday or Thursday!

Maybe you can do your medical in MTL the same time frame as your interview? Then not have to go to VCR.

Maybe, that would make me so nervous though, that something would go wrong. I guess you get the results all in one day for the Medical?

I'd rather spend the $250 bux and go to Vancouver and get it done in advance.

When you get the NOA2 and subsequent packages - do you not have to mail in anything on the medical in respnonse? Or do you just get the medical and bring it to the interview?

I would do the same, I am a huge worry wart and would want the medical done in advance. You get the medical results in a SEALED envelope that cannot be opened, you'll also get your Xray and vaccination worksheet.... you don't need to mail anything, you carry the sealed envelope with you to the interview (don't need the Xray).

I believe the fee is now $350.00 in Vancouver.

For CR1 processing you schedule your medical once you have your interview letter (after the NOA2, after NVC ) and take the medical results in the sealed envelope with you to your interview.

The fee is $350.00 in Vancouver for the medical. You may need to have the NOA2 before you can schedule your medical though. And yes, in Vancouver they give you your results the same day. I don't think they have an option for that in MTL. It sucks that you'll have to go both places. It's so ridiculous! You can always email the doctor's office in Vancouver and ask!

When going into they medical, they also ask you for a letter from the consulate confirming an interview date, or the front page of you're packet 3 (for K-1 and K-3), so you can't really get the medical done until you have that in your hand.

I would really suggest not getting it done close to the interview date unless you are really sure you have met all the vaccination requirements! I was 90% sure I had everything but apparently I'm missing an booster shot... so now I have to wait for a week so my doctor can do it. I've heard of people being offered missing vaccinations at the medical appointment but Dr. Seiden in Toronto didn't give me that option... Maybe double check everything with your doctor before hand so you're completely sure? It must be hard for people in the western provinces, they aren't very close to either of the consulates or the medical practitioners!

Im 26.. and I dont have my records from when I was less than 14. My old doctor moved out of country and havent heard anything about that since.

What do I have to do to prove I had my vaccines as an infant, etc?

All I have is a photocopy I got in the 10th grade from the schools health district showing what vaccinations I had upto then, and that I was needing a booster.

Is that enough to show the dates I had my vaccines before highschool?

Or is there something I can have my Family Doctor do now to make sure I have everything I need upto date?

You can request a Titres test showing you have immunity to the vaccines required. It's a blood test you can get at your regular Dr.'s office. That would be your best bet.

Cindy - You need your MTL# case number from the consulate in order to have the medical - so you are best to wait until closer to your interview.

i had my medical last march 16th. i dont know if it was weird or not, but dr. seiden asked me to go to may family doctor and get a blood test to prove that i have a tetanus vaccine which was written in my yellow card.

y do i need to prove him that? he doesnt believe whats in my vaccination card or sumthing?

i cant get the result unless my family doctor faxed him a copy of a titre test that proves of my tetanus vaccine.

do they make you have vaccinations to things that youre not immune to? ie will they refuse the medical exam as complete if you dont want some of the vaccinations? some of these have mercury in them and I am currently dealing with mercury poisoning and really alarmed about being forced to have them. I am an Aussie and moved to Ontario with my ex and went through the visa process here and wasnt subjected to vaccination issues.
