Firstly the 20,000,000 is an estimate (on the high-end) of the number of illegal immigrants in this country. The truth is noone knows how many there are - but the estimates vary wildly between 11 million and 20 million. Might as well be made up numbers for how verifiable they are.

Ah okay, estimate. Hmm, so it could be more then? Be lets assume it's 1 million or even 500,000. What right to these 500,000 have to work while Americans live in Tents?

Separate question.

a good question too.

How so?

clearly its a simple question. he asked why an illegal immigrant should have the same right to employment a citizen or a legal immigrant out of work has. and yet you do not have an answer.

Because homeless people can't pick grapes worth a damn!

I think they can, but they just don't want to do so for less than an illegal is prepared to earn. I am surprised at this soft attitude to the homeless being portrayed in this thread to be quite honest. In previous discussions it's always been the 'if you want to work, you can damn well get up off your ####### and find work, work for less, blah blah blah". Now all of a sudden I am presented with, "it's the illegals that are at fault". I'm damned if I know where these guys stand now.

It is seasonal work, but highly sought after in the area where I live. The migrant workers here make good wages, and it is quasi-regulated.

Quasi-regulated, meaning? I guess not in terms of ensuring workers are legal to do the work? I guess the problem is that you have to be prepared to move constantly, following the work that becomes seasonally available in order to make enough to cover you for the whole year. That's not an easy life style.

Quasi in that everybody gets paid fair wages. and all the appropriate taxes are paid. (Illegal immigrants are given SSN's, but the fact that they are illegal is confidential, and cannot be reported to DHS.) They are permitted to set up hiring centers in the various communities. Day workers have a minimum wage ($20/hour) and minimum daily payment ($120/day).

It happens anyways, so unofficially, everything is done to keep things fair and safe all around. When employers try to cheat the workers, somebody drops a dime, ICE comes in, and shuts those bussinesses down, as happened last summer, when all the pallet factories in the SF Bay area were raided and shut down.

ok the whinebags are in a tizzy...my work here is done. :D

Implying with six only works when it comes to other people's posts. Particularly those posters he doesn't like.

Typical conversation with him:

I could have said "I don't like black...." - Six's Response: You Racist Pig!!

"cars as they scratch too easy." - Six's Response: nah nah you're racist!!

"No, I said and meant a cars color" - Six's Response: Stop whining

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I never cease to be amazed by the fantasies you dream up BY. No end of cheap entertainment.

Fantasies? lmao

Dude, it's called a typical day on VJ with Private Azz

I could set my watch to how a thread will play out the second I see your or one of your buddies post in it. I have no problem with anyone else apart from you clowns.

I have to wonder if anything productive is supposed to come out of these arguments. It seems like that instead of debating, the majority of you are merely hurling insults at one another like school children.

Why even bother with the formality of pretending to discuss anything? You might as well make a thread for the sole purpose of writing inflammatory statements at each other.

Interesting, so is the reason why this falls to illegal workers a combination of the itinerant nature of the work and the fact that the area normally has so many other jobs to offer that legal workers don't look in that direction?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Well you have to have someone who has the mental capacity to actually form an opinion and discuss it. Unfortunately if this was a minimum requirement, six would not qualify to discuss anything. His capacity is limited to telling others how wrong they are but never actually supporting his own view or proving / showing why they are wrong. Even though he makes the accusation, they are the ones who have to back their opinion up.

As soon as I see six or his cronies in a thread, I know it's end of discussion.

I'm having a rather different recollection to the events in this thread than you seem to have.

Not that it matters much of course - anything I type just enables your whining (and justification of doing so).

"he started it" is childish at best.

I don't know the reasons, but I am sure it is economic. California still has high unemployment. Also, government agencies seem to develope a client relationship with the very bussinesses they are supposed to regulate. I think it is more of trying not to force the economy completely underground, so that the state and local governments can still capture some revenue.

I know when I drive by the usual spots, there are always Hispanics looking for work, and nobody else, so there are no shortage of workers. The unemployed white folk around here would rather panhandle, than take a day job.

It's agricultural work presumably?

Day without a Mexican or something like that.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

When we were living in SOCAL we had a fairly good idea of where you could procure some furniture movers if you were so inclined. Its not really any secret.

FIL hired a couple recently to help him install a new fence in their yard.

Construction and landscaping work as well. Anything requiring semi-skilled or manual labor.
