Finally finished with the gauntlet.

IR-1/CR-1 visa... I assume now free to travel here.... Beyond doing the move and travel....

Wondering what's next paperworkwise.... I still need the actual Green Card and Social Security Numbers.. I wonder if I have to pursue those or if they just show up in due time.

Upon entry to the USA the POE will stamp passport "I-551" this = GREEN-CARD, you can use the I-551 stamp to apply for a SSN. The actual green-card will be mailed to your US address.

Give it 2 weeks of so before atempting to apply for SSN.

One note, IF you hold on entering the USA until you are past 2 years of marriage, the resulting green-card will be a 10 year un-conditional card.

From your signature looks like your visa expiration will fall after your 2nd wedding anniversary.

Congrats HOHOHO! Smooth sailing at POE too!

I thought in DS230 we are specifically asked whether we want SSN assigned so it should be automatic?

04-04-1998 Get together

08-03-2003 Admitted to the US as PR

07-24-2005 Finally get married

09-2005 Came together to US for honeymoon, wife on B1 visa, I94 extension approved for 2 x 6 months

04-2007 Fly to visit parents, wife denied entry to US

07-01-2007 File I-130

07-12-2007 NOA1

05-2008 File N-400

09-23-2008 US Citizen

09-31-2008 Submit certificate for upgrades

10-29-2008 Touched

01-07-2009 NOA2

01-12-2009 Case forwarded to NVC

01-20-2009 DS3032 and AOS Fee Bill generated

It should be, but I have seen many CR-1 holders ending up visiting SSA to apply for a number, even when checking that a number will be needed on the DS-230.
