How does one get the notice of NOA-1? I looked at some timelines.. and some are next day after filing.. they got it by email?

always via USPS... when finally received they back fill in the dates

when you write a check, USCIS will cash it and write your receipt number behind it, thats how people know that the USCIS have their petition and people go by that date for their NOA1...

I actually used the date on the NOA1 :blush:

when you write a check, USCIS will cash it and write your receipt number behind it, thats how people know that the USCIS have their petition and people go by that date for their NOA1...

How does one get the notice of NOA-1? I looked at some timelines.. and some are next day after filing.. they got it by email?

No. The letter may be a few weeks in coming, but the NOA1 is basically the date they log you in the system, usually the day of or day after arrival. So the package is delivered, for example on March 1 and three weeks later you get a letter saying "date of notice March 2" Your NOA1 date is March 2. It doesn't matter that is it April 15 when the letter arrives in your mailbox. Many people (myself included) then go to their timeline and put in the date on the letter.

I always send anything to the USCIS, or any other government or official business by USPS certified, return receipt. For all practical purposes, you can consider the date of delivery as the "NOA1" date.

Dec 17, 2009 ~~ InfoPass appointment (Emergency AP granted)

Dec 28, 2009 ~~ Biometric Letter arrived (dated 12/15/09)

Dec 28, 2009 ~~ RFE for I-693 (dated 12/22/09)

Jan 11, 2010 ~~ Completed Biometrics

Jan 14, 2010 ~~ Sent I-693 in sealed envelope via US Priority Mail

Jan 19, 2010 ~~ Reply to RFE delivered to Lee's Summit, MO @ 5:03 PM signed for by "C BUCHHOLZ"

Jan 20, 2010 ~~ USCIS acknowledged receipt of RFE on I-485 only

Jan 22, 2010 ~~ I-131 AP and I-765 EAD approved (email notice on 1/25/10)

Jan 28, 2010 ~~ USCIS email that I-485 was transferred to CSC on 1/26/10

Jan 30, 2010 ~~ Received EAD and AP via US Postal Service

Feb 01, 2010 ~~ Received notification of case transfer via USPS

May 07, 2010 ~~ Email notification that card production ordered for 1-485

Jun 01, 2010 ~~ Greencard finally arrives w/approval date 2/23/10 (Huh??)

Done until November 25, 2011!!!
