Well last night was interesting. I got invited to a group that was continuing an ICC 10 from the previous week. They were on LK and almost everyone was a Kingslayer on their mains and this was an alt run. I think the lowest geared person had a 5800 GS. First attempt, we got LK down to 15%, then 13%. Then for some reason, we had the absolute worst luck with the black ooze and valkyrs. It seemed like every attempt, the valkyr and infest would come at the exact same moment and would drop that black pool directly in the path of the valkyr. Of course they would pick up either the lock or shadow priest leaving us with only 2 other ranged DPS to burn down the valkyr. Some of the blame goes to the placement of the boss, but a lot of it was just dumb luck. We never got that close again that night as people were just getting frustrated. Lich king really isn't that difficult of a fight, all you need to do is pay attention for 10 minutes. Sigh.

I had a very interesting raid on sunday afternoon. The group looked ok, except for one healer who was very undergeared and the OT was very undergeared. I knew we weren't going to get to LK, but figured we could get to Sindragosa. The Main tank had a 6.2K gear score, and almost 80K HP (warrior). I'm an affliction lock, so I don't pull much threat til about half way through. I pulled aggro off this guy in the first 30 seconds of the fight. Next fight, I was highest threat because I did most DPS on the mana shield, but I shattered and dropped aggro down to about 10% of the tanks. Ten seconds later, I was dead. I was annoyed at that point, but not mad. We go upstairs, and I pull aggro on the trash.... I gave hime a 15 second head start, and I pulled on my 3rd seed of corruption. I died again when we got to the frost dragon, and then we get the weekly quest which was the frost giant one. I pulled aggro on that one. I've never had that problem, so I was pissed at that point. The tank was apologetic, but at that point, I was pissed. I only went cause I wanted to try for the heroic caster trinket on heroic lootship. I went off on the guy on vent. I usually hate to cause drama in a raid, but 77K HP, 6.2K gear score and he can't even hold aggro on trash, let alone a boss? No way. They kicked him and he kept whispering me all day that I was racist that I only kicked him because he's asian. #######? LoL, whatever.

I tried to read through the entire thread to see if folks were on my server, but my eyes kept crossing... oy, I need sleep.

Anywho!

Lethon - Horde - Llysara (priest), Mhairi (paladin), Alaeine (mage)

Cenarion Circle - Avaryne (Horde priest), Mhairi (Alliance pally)

Aaaaaand Brewfest is back! Who's got their mount? :D

Nini - Vancouver BC, Canada (she's the one who does the forum thing)

Bee - Devon PA, USA (he's the one who gave her the shiny ring)

Getting our sanity tested by bureaucracy since 2007.

I played on CC years ago. I believe I have a few characters there still, though I'm sure they're buried in dust.

My Priest on Proudmoore is 58. I gained 2 3/4 levels on Sunday, the majority earned from victories in WSG as it was WSG weekend. Unfortunately, the few-win streak ended and the experience gravy train did as well. I absolutely loved being the only individual on defense as a Disc Priest despite attempting to rally more :bonk: - I guess people don't realize that defense must remain past the initial flag capture? Oh, how annoying it was to read "just let them win" as soon as Horde captured 1 flag.

Outland instances are unavailable to me via Dungeon Finder; I guess I'll quest a bit in Hellaciouslyannoyingfire Peninsula.

On the upside, I got to sight-see in ZG with some of my guildmates.

Does it take anyone else a bit of time to get used to talking to a new group of people in vent/mumble, or am I just that socially inept nowadays?

I'll probably be unable to hit 75 before Brewfest ends. I'll more than likely miss out on Brewfest and Operation Gnomregan's last quest. :(

So I inadvertently caused a huge guild ruckus at the weekend.

Having spent almost 3 months out of the game while in England the guild progressed well, lots of new members and regular ICC's etc...I am by this time woefully geared and need to catch up, so I start going along. Signet of Putrefaction drops, I miss the roll...that's my fault my bad, but the guy who won the roll gave the ring to me as they were all rolling for off specs.

I was unable to attend the second part the following evening and all holy hell broke out in the middle of the raid over this ring and it being given to me. The guy who gave me the ring sent me a chat in FB to tell me what had gone on, so I quickly log in as I know I should have time to still trade the ring if need be to calm things down (although the guildie insisted I need not do that at all) As soon as I say 'Hi' 6 of our top raiders start g/quiting....way to make a point...I felt totally shitty and humiliated. I don't really know them as they were 'new' to me but I know that they are RL friends so I'm not surprised that they stood by the person who was pissed off about this ring. I havent logged back on yet so haven't spoken to the GM about it, so don't know how he handled it, but I'm guessing not to their satisfaction

God I hate guild dramas!

With MMO-Champion declaring that Nov. 2 is the release of Cataclysm, all sorts of new guilds are popping up and trumpeting their individual accomplishments and recruiting from other guilds for the specific goal of guild progression in Cataclysm. I don't know, i'm still searching for a guild that I can raid with. I like my current guild, but they raid too early, and can be quite clicque(ish) with raid invites. So, I don't quite know what to do. I am leaning towards faction changing. Alliance are just becoming douches on my realm. They have always been kind of as$holes, but more along the lines of people who would corpse camp someone, or raid Org during the flame festival so that nobody could do the achievements.

@ Kimbear

I have only used their voice service once so far (for ZG run) but boy, did I feel awkward just trying to explain something and even when making a joke. I completely understand not wanting to get too "comfortable" in case something drastic were to happen.

@ Welshcookie

You did absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever. You did not ask for the ring. You did not bribe or pay for the ring. Those who /gquitted... top raiders? More like top nerdraging babies. The only person whom you should be concerned with - if anything - is the GM/RL and that is only if the GM/RL (whichever and/or both) had specific rules mentioning "no giving items away after you won a roll" or something similar. While I sincerely hope that your guild will manage without those 6 individuals and though I certainly don't know your guild's composition, goals, environment or politics, I believe that your guild will be better of without those 6.

After all, those 6 may have been some sort of cliquish, problematic group making trouble before you returned. Don't fell bad; just talk things out with the GM if you feel like you need to set something straight.

Just my two copper.

LoL @ the vent mentions. On a game that Mel and I actually met on before we started playing wow, the first time talked to her on vent when we were just friends, I made fun of her accent. I actually love vent, especially in PUG's. Yes, I can be kind of loud and abnoxious in between pulls sometimes, mostly if i've had a couple (too many) drinks. But it's all in good fun. For those of you who don't talk much in vent, do you consider yourselves introverted or extroverted in real life?

I'm pretty introverted IRL, and it goes the same in vent. I'm pretty comfortable with my guild, but when it comes to PUGs, no way. Plus, there's that whole "omg a girl?!" aspect which I'm so tired of getting when I do say something. :P

Thank you for that  I did speak to the wife of the guy that got his knickers in a twist over the ring thing and she did say that it was just the thing that tipped stuff that had been going on in the back ground for a while. As I said I had been out of the loop for a while and I guess I missed the whole under current between the 'new' and the 'old' in the guild...I figure I got caught in the cross fire somewhere  But, we will just pick up from where we were a few months ago, we are pretty tight as a guild having grown together as a casual lvling guild to one that really wants to move on, and I think it is hard for new people to come in sometimes..if you that makes sense. GM is pretty gutted to have lost them, but he has always been a fair guy and didn't see the problem about the ring exchange...but i think it was used as a reason to move on, which is fair enough...I still hate the whole waiting for me to log on to g/quit though, that sucked :hehe:

As for vent.....I have had good and bad experiences. My Hordie guild was pretty much a nightmare at times, there weren't many females in the guild, maybe 3, they were fun guys but I always hoped the 'novelty' of a female in vent, let alone one with a weird accent, would wear off, but it really didn't. I had to stop when one of them made a comment that he was doing a certain act while I talked on vent and my husband happened to walk by and catch it, wasn't best pleased...I know it was just a joke, but it kind of wore thin after a while.

I'm pretty much an introvert irl and it took me a while to get back onto vent with my current guild, but they are on the whole more mature and lots of couples so I quite enjoy the social interaction. It is nice not feeling like I have intercepted a boy's club

I've seen similiar situations arise when guilds decide they want to raid more and recruit more hardcore raiders. There is always conflict between the new raiders and the old time members. I think in every situation i've been a part of (been on both sides of that scenario ), the raiders always leave. You didn't do anything wrong and the people who waited for you to log on to /gquit are effing children. That is just petty and passive aggressive.

So here's another entry from "The Failed Raider". I got into a group last night to help my friend out, they needed a melee DPS slot. The group looked good, and we 1-shot every boss up to Blood Queen. At that point, the two fury warriors, both of which have 6K gearscores, come down with a case of retarded. We tried 8 times, and 7 of the wipes were their faults (once was mine ). One of the two would always get the first bite, despite doing less DPS than either myself, or the hunter in group. Each and every time, one of them would get bitten and would do one of the following 1) not be able to find me or the hunter to bite and get mind controled 2 ) bite a healer or tank or 3) bite someone who was already bitten. I didn't nerd rage, and the only reason I think was because I was pugging into my friends guild run. After the 8th wipe, it was midnight and I politely told them that I had to go, I had to wake up for work in less than 6 hours. Oh well, I really need to join a guild that is active. sigh.

FYI, mobs lvl 65 and up will hit along harder so the guilds that didn't down LK now, probably wont..ever...there is also talk about changing the icc buff or getting rid of it etc.
