Shadow priests got a huge buff. I was doing toc 10 (regular) on my shadow priest on monday night, and then did it again on thursday night. No gear changes, no rotation change, but I did notice an increas of about 1K dps. I love the changes they made with vampiric embrace. I think they finally fixed the bug that shadow priests have had for a long time that the DoTs didn't scale with spellpower/haste/crit procs. Finally, I love that haste now matters for shadow priests. Now, I just need to get some more gear on my paladin  They messed with palis a bit, I don't like what they did with divine sacrifice. That was such a great skill for raids, and now it only works within a party, not raid-wide.

You know you play too much when........

I'm sitting here at work and finished my morning workload and waiting for lunch. So what did I catch myself doing? I can't go and read any wow or gamer websites, so I'm sitting here using my keyboard to try to reconfigure how i'm going to map my keybinds on my lock.

I guess it all really depends on what you like. I like caster characters (mage, warlock, priest), but some like melee (rogue, warrior) and then there are those who do both. I'd suggest playing either a warrior or a paladin to start. Those are the easiest classes to begin with. But in the end, it's your personal preference. To start playing, do all the quests in the starting area. At the end of the quests, you'll get one final one that will send you to the next area that blizzard suggests you go. There are other ways, but thats a good way to start.

Ooo you're gonna love it! My hubby and I started playing at Christmas time last year and it was so much fun exploring each new area as we quested and leveled up. I chose a Paladin and he a Rogue which are both still our main characters.

From my experience I would suggest once you decide on a character (all have their good and bad points) do a little research or ask here about professions. I regret choosing herbalism and alchemy on my paladin because now that I'm raiding I would really love the benefits from mining, blacksmithing, jewelcrafting or enchanting for her. Each profession offers a different benefit at the higher levels and matching them up with the character you choose helps. It takes a while to max the professions out and to start over can be time consuming and expensive (you can only have 2 at a time).

Enjoy!!

At least your flasks last for 2 Hours :P

Last night, after raiding on my main, a few people decided to do a 10 man ToC on alts. I went on my pali and after much ado over a drop (2H Sword), I realize that I've never really used one since like lvl 10. So After gemming and enchanting, I go down and whack at things for almost an hour to lvl it up the skill, I realize that my lvl 219 axe is actually better DPS for me.

Yep - doing all the quests (which are obvious, the quest giver has an Exclamation point above their head) will help you explore the starter area and introduce you to some things along the way

I liked the idea of being able to shapeshift so I chose a druid....just seemed neat....77 levels later, I still like it. I'm a healer

Although a pally can be boring at the low lvls (omg they hit sooo slow) you are more durable and you can heal yourself.

Personally i'm a fan of the druid. i have 3. you can be a caster, you can be a healer, or you can be a bear /tank or kitty/rogue. either way the class is very versatile and you can do all things at the lower lvls. you get some fun tricks along the way too.

it really depends on your play stylel, and if you have patience or not. Me i hate casters, too squishy, takes too long to get a spell off and i die soo much lol.

Yeah just gotta try them out. I never used to ever play any caster class in any game, board game, computer game, D&D in grade school game etc. I was always a warrior and decided to carry that on to this game being it was my first and only online game ever. So made a undead warrior and played it to level 7 at my friends place. Got highspeed internet at my place that week and bought the game and decided I will just choose something totally different and picked a warlock for the hell of it.

Now like Rob and Mel, my 4 80's constist of 2 locks, 1 mage and 1 shadow priest. All caster classes. I have a level 7 warrior I'll never level, level 23 rogue which I hate and a 24 hunter which I do like.

If you find one style you like, good chance you'll like the other ones that are similar to that. Me I just like the ranged caster/hunter ones myself and that is totally the opposite of what I used to do...

Hey Warlord, what spec do you recommend for the best DPS of a Warlock that's going to PVE/raid only? I have just started doing regular dungeons with mine at lvl 77 (love the new queue system) and find it kinda awkward dotting up multiple mobs with my affliction spec.

I'm normally a pally so it's a big difference for me. I'm a total Warlock noob!!

Warlock DPS is pretty even atm, it really just depends on your play style. I do 7-9K DPS as a destruction warlock depending on raid makeup and boss', but destruction really is based on your gear. If you don't have such good gear, you're not going to do so well until you do. Affliction does really good and doesn't necissarily require the best gear. But as affliction, you do need to be very nimble with your rotations. You have to get it right or your DPS will drop like an anchor. Just remember NEVER CLIP YOUR DOTS. Demonology got a decent buff with 3.3, and it gives a big raid buff. If you are doing 25 man raids, or are in a 10 man raid group that has 4 casters or more, it is a huge boost to the raid. As demonology, you can get into raids much easier and given gear as the raid buff scales with your spellpower.

Affliction does good DPS, really really good DPS on longer fights, but on anything less than a 3 minute fight, it won't be tops. It is also very bad on trash fights. But who cares about trash right? DPS really only matters on boss'.

Right now I've noticed most tried out Affliction since the patch and most quickly seemed to jump right back to Destro. I'm dual spec, but so far haven't used my Affliction spec much at all. Just depends on the fight which I haven't been in the 25 man ICC raids lately as my WoW has been DC'ing this past week and I' have many other stuff going on. So I really haven't tested out Affliction that much.

Lower geared 80's really can benefit from the Demo spec, that's what my 2nd lock is who just has Naxx/OS/Maly gear on. Works really well in 5 mans as well.

If you want here's the link to both of my locks for the specs

I'd say about 10 people from my guild started playing Aion. All but 2 have come back though. The gfx are spectacular, but there is just not enough content.

I realized last night that I raid too much lol. Monday through thursday, I raid on my lock. We do 10/25 ICC, 10/25 ToC and ToGC, 10/25 Onyxia, 10/25 VoA, and we still do 25 man Ulduar occasionaly for fragments and hard mode achievements. Weekends, I usually mess around on lower toons and PVP. Well on friday, I finally relented and my friend talked me into joining his guild on my alt. My alt (ret pali) is no slouch, 245 gear and some 232. I also talked Mel into joining. She's finally going to give raiding a shot. I really hope she gets into tonights raid.
