What's the best way to recruit good guild members? We're on Feathermoon, which I'm told is an older realm, therefore all the big guilds have been around for years and it's hard for newer guilds to build up. All we ever get is people's alts and they end up leaving eventaully. We're very small (50 some members i think and only about 6 or 7 regulars). Should I advertise in trade chat, on the WoW site forums, or what? Our other problem is the guild leader hasn't been on for over a month. It's lame to be in a guild with no leader. We really like the guy though. We think he may have had to move as he was talking about selling his house recently. I'd like to stay if he's gonna be back (the leader & his buddies are Canadian and that was kinda cool for my hubby :) But I'd kinda like to try joining one of the big guilds and see what it's like. Then decide about making our own guild possibly. gaaahhhhh idk what to do!

We have dabbled in recruiting - as in trade chat and some members have picked up some people randomly while questing. The trade chat thing does not work that I have found. Maybe if you have a guild that everyone knows it does.

The greatest guild members have been ones that are friends of guild members. Recently we have had quite a few people join us - they were friends with some people in our guild, we ran a few raids with them and they hopped over. They wanted to raid, their guilds weren't and I guess they liked us.

We have had 2-3 people join after someone quested with them - they turned out to be great people and brought their friends along too.

If you are going to join one of the big guilds, I would recommend that you have an alt join it first and try them out. My Husband actually took his alt to another guild on Monday, he wants to raid during the week with his mage. They did part of a naxx run and he was totally unimpressed - waiting around for them to distribute loot (and I mean it took them a loooong time), the way the raid leader interacted with everyone etc - so he quit on Tuesday.

The best method I've seen for recruiting is to get to know as many people on your server as possible. Pug a bunch of heriocs. Sometimes you meet good people and end up hitting instances more often together. It's a good way to evaluate the person and let them see if they would fit in with your guildies. Of course, soemtimes you meet jerks but there's always the ignore function. Antoher thing you can do is find out what some of the big custom chat channels on your server are. There are often ones dedicated to getting groups together for old world raids or workd pvp.

Joining a large established guild is always interesting. There are usually one or more cliques and it can be hard if you aren't in any of them. If it's a raiding guild, the fastest way in is to play your class really well so you end up in raid groups and can get to know the insiders better.

Good luck with figuring out what you want to do.

Ugh - I have been through a few guilds on Kargath (an original server...but very active) - started with friends and now it's extended friends and new friends

Dragon Alliance - still have some chars there

Grey council - big guild, lots of raiding - one day they disbanded and didn't tell a soul - due to the usual guild-infighting

Back to Dragon Alliance

Most friends moved to DILLIGAF- still have a couple chars there too

Most of DILLIGAF moved to Prestige

And that is where we sit today .....Prestige raids and has non raiders so it's a pretty good mix.

Starting a guild is definitely a commitment, if you're on an established server, you may just want to join a bigger guild depending on what you're looking for.

I for one have no desaire to listen to the meckering and stupidity that you have to help resolve as guild leader. I was class leader once for Druids and that was nuts enough

Thanks for the advice. I sooo wish that I knew a big group of people (in real life) that played. I should stuff my christmas cards with trial membership papers this year lol. I might try the joining a big guild with an alt idea. We've been pugging and I did meet some nice people that way that repeatedly ask me to tank for them which is nice. It just isn't enough though.

Anyway, it's the weekend now so it's time to play!

Yay, I finally got my Valourous Mantle of Faith (shoulders)! I ended up buying them with emblems of valour. I have been waiting for the 10 man shoulders to drop for me in Naxx for months. Every time they drop someone else wins them - which was kind of annoying when a warlock who virtually never plays showed up one night and grabbed them

But no matter!

Gratz on the shoulders Trailmix! It's always so exciting to see someone get an item they've been wanting for a long time  .

We finally left our guild this past weekend. Our plan is to join my daughter's guild which is pretty big and seems to be running heroics, naxx and ulduuar all the time. Plus they have a good pvp group (her bf is on the Alli most wanted list lolol!) We're bringing a couple guildies along with us. I doubt our ex-leader will care much and if he does, tough. You can't hold a guild together or expect people to wait months for you to feel like playing again. I'm sad, but also looking to start anew and see what it's like in a "real" guild for once.

I've gotten my warlock to 68 now! I'm really starting to enjoy playing her. It's so weird to go between her and my pally. With the pally it feels strange now to not have a minion to send out & do my dirty work lol. I also find that I take less (or no) damage as a warlock when monsters come & are attacking me directly as I do on the pally. Weird huh? Cloth is toughter than plate? It's very strange. I died so much more as a pally than I do as a warlock. Maybe game experience? Maybe locks are OP? lol!

My pally has my husband's mage for that. Husband, demon...not much difference sometimes.

I have my warlock at 36 now, i've only ever played clothies but I must say, it is fun to be able to have a minion!!

I have a 80 lock and a 74 pali and lvling as a pali is so much easier. I can take on 4-5 mobs of my own lvl, and even better, all those group quests in northrend, I can solo (as long as lay on hands is up). Ret pali is so OP in PvP it's not even funny. I twinked my pali at every single bracket up til now and always came out on top. In instances, I do good DPS (1400-1500 in DTK), but it is mostly AoE trash DPS. Single target is only around 1200. But i'm not lvling this toon to be a raider. I'm gonna do a 2's arena team with a shadow priest friend of mine.

On another note...... 1 more week til DK's get teh nerf stick.

Yay, got my account back (without any need to verify account holder name... odd indeed).

Yay, my main was stripped of basically anything useful... So it's a wait on the restoration process (I hope), or to spend time on my 30-something priest.

Am really looking forward to that patch, so I'm hoping I get all of my ####### back, heh..

Ohh ok, I didn't realize you account was actually hacked as well!

That's too bad. Just so you know, it only took them a day or two to restore my stuff back, after they reactivated my account.

It appears that our GM and his GF have quit the game and left us high and dry. We asked him to log on one last time and promote someone to guild council so they could promote/kick people, but they said no, go make a new guild. So we did, but I'm kind of torn about something. They raided the guild bank and transferred it over to our new guild. I was thinking it would be appropriate for people to take out stuff that they put in, but to raid the entire guild bank was a bit much. Oh well. I've not been feeling like playing much as of late. I lvled up professions on some toons last night but didn't do anything else.

Hmm, yes that is tricky. Then again, who can remember who put what in the guild bank? If a guild leader decides to jump ship on the guild, maybe it is just fair game.

I haven't been playing as much either, it's really time for some new content - really I have like nothing interesting to do. Have been playing my warlock a bit and that's all. We raid on weekends.

I know a number of people that have either stopped or are rarely doing it now. I just got back from a great week vacation and have two more week vacations next month, so I won't be on a whole lot. I've been doing more stuff on the weekends now then playing and we generally have been raiding Tues-Thrus, but guess people aren't showing up a lot now for Thrus nights. We've got a number of people in the guild that aren't really on anymore, including our GM and his brother and wife and our other main raid leader. Right now it's kind of a skelleton crew. I've got my 4 80's, not much to do much either for them since they all raid.

I've actually been playing with my Flight Simulator X thing lately...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...
