Tax returns needed for I-134?

I know I have read a hundred posts that say that the last three years of income taxes have to be attached with the 134. I'm wondering why the directions only state that a letter from current employer is needed and tax returns are only needed if self employed. Has anyone had success just submitting a letter from an employer?

The directions with form I-134 are outdated, most consulates expect the same level and types of financial evidence as what will be used with I-864 when adjusting status.

I-864 specifies past year's IRS returns or transcripts. (Past 2 additional years are optional, as well as employer letter, and copies paystubs)

The consulate is concerned with income, PAST (Tax Returns), Present (Pay Stubs), and future (Employer letter).

Use the instructions from I-864 as a guide as to what to provide with the I-134.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

It is better to take as information as possible. It is up to the discretion of the official,You may never know what the official might ask your fiancee, because each case is different. If you are missing something they will reschedule your appointment and you don't know when that could be. The more information you provide the better changes you have to proof your fiance will not be a financial burden to the US

You don't want the official to deny your fiancee's visa just because you decided not to provide your taxes because as you said you are not self-employed.
