DS 3032 - Who should be the agent?

Hi,

Who should be listed on the DS 3032 as the agent? I am the beneficiary in Australia and my husband is in the US. However, I have access to email and fax etc and all our bank details. My husband does not always get access to a computer.

If your husband is the petitioner, and you are the person appointed him to be your choice of agent.

Generally the petitioner is appointed the agent since it has been more efficient to receive mail at a US address. However, that being said, NVC can be navigated without any mail except the IIN and now that they are moving to email corespondence I'm not convinced it really matters who you choose. If you have access to his email and the banking info (fees need to be paid from as US banking account) you could still appoint him but do everything yourself.

You would want to make sure he has the DS-230 from you to mail from within the US as this would be quicker.

I was of the impression that the DS-230 was sent to the Sydney Australia Consulate - this what they say on the Sydney Consulate website? But you are saying it goes to the NVC instead? I have downloaded a DS-230 from the website. So can I send this now to my husband before we even get the DS3032? If all else fails, I can always express mail from Australia - it gets to the US in about 3-5 days.

You may be correct. I'm not familiar with the protocol for Sydney. NVC processes the DS-230 for appointment posts (which mine was). Hope I haven't confused things further.

Anyone including yourself can be the agent for the DS-3032. Recommendations have been to use someone in the US so the mail from NVC arrives faster. Since I am the petitioner for my wife's case, she appointed me as the agent.

I believe the reason for this being on their website is for DCF applications. If you are not doing DCF, the DS-230 must be sent to NVC.

I believe the reason for this being on their website is for DCF applications. If you are not doing DCF, the DS-230 must be sent to NVC.
