Ma da is irish, he looks like a wee leprechaun when he sits on his massive chair, with his wee legs dangling over the edge, too short to reach the ground. I tried phonin him but he's already gone out to the pub celebratin. Happy St Paddy's Day da (L)

3.21.2014: Received email notification with case # for both petitions; case forwarded to NBC for processing

3.21.2014: Check cashed

3.22.2014: Hard copy NOA1 received

4.08.2014: Both I-130 approved (notification received via email) - It only took three weeks!!!

4.11.2014: Received NOA2 approval notice in the mail.

5.01.2014: Called NVC to ask for status of paperwork. Advised they received both application on 4.28. Advised to call in 30 business days for an update.

6.02.2014: Email notification received from NVC that shows parents' NVC case number and instructions to pay AOS Fee and fill out DS 261.

6.03.2014: Paid AOS fee ($88 for both petitions)

If you take the Irish part out of the fun, what are you doing? Enjoy it how you like, but I will still laugh at those who use non Irish customs to celebrate St Patrick's day because I think that is pointless.

If you take the irish out of the fun, then you are having fun. It's fun to be stupid and wear green and dye rivers and beer.

I live in Boston and its a big day here, but I do have to say that the American-Irish are way more Irish than the people who live in Ireland. There idea's about what the Irish do on St Paddy's day are way off the mark.

Why? Why is it fun to do things that are related to the colour green? What is the point? I mean, by all means do it, if that is what you want to do. Why not simply call it "Green Coloured Things (especially beer) Day"?

St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, his religious feast day and the anniversary of his death in the fifth century. The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over a thousand years.

On St. Patrick's Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. Lenten prohibitions against the consumption of meat were waived and people would dance, drink, and feast—on the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage.

The first St. Patrick's Day parade took place not in Ireland, but in the United States. Irish soldiers serving in the English military marched through New York City on March 17, 1762. Along with their music, the parade helped the soldiers to reconnect with their Irish roots, as well as fellow Irishmen serving in the English army.

Drink enough and you can call it whatever you want :) It's shorter to say St. Patty's day, which is beneficial after several pints hehe. And everything is green because that's what the Irish do :-D Everything is green because that's what has become tradition. American's (and otheres) have stolen the holiday (like we do with all celebrations) and have made it our own. Green ####### is tradition and that's why we have it. Who knows why, but its fun to go out, drink a bit, have others around you drink a bit (or a lot) and all wear the same color. It makes things look festive.

Fair enough, but I still think it's funny :)

Just don't laugh or you may get green beer on you :blink: (not from me, but crazy drunks). I miss college and St Patty's day. Everyone would come to class drunk, look horrible and have to go to the bathroom every few minutes. SO funny

It's my first St Patrick's Day here and I must admit I was slightly taken aback by how huge it is here..there are clothes on sale and parades....I did go to Dublin a few years back for St Patrick's Day, it was a blast, I was the only Brit in my hotel though....it was full of Americans :lol:
