My wife and I have decided to go the K3 route and so we are looking towards the next step after approval. As I understand it the approved petition is forwarded to NVC who enters it into their system and issues a case number. The case is then forwarded to the embassy. How soon do I call NVC (got approved yesterday) and how would I identify my K3 petition (does NVC understand the USCIS case numbers ?).

Thanks,

Deepak

Hey Roodee,

I was able to get our k3 case number in 5 days. Use your 129f USCIS receipt number when prompted.

You will be directed to an operator after choosing "2 for k visas", jsut ask if its been received and for your case number.

Good Luck :)

Lisa

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

@@@ Roo

Once the K3 left the NVC after given a case number, it will go to the consulate. Once the case left the NVC, they have no control over it no more, you need to call the consulate from their on. Goodthing I went to CR1 and by pass my K3 because but the time I completed CR1 in 25 days, I just now get the notice from consulate to call them to set up an appointment for the interview for K3 without any other letters from consulate. NVC already have my appointment for CR1, 2 dAYS after my case was completed.... figure the math...
