What have people put in for question 22 on the DS156 online form?

The question asks:

When Do You Intend To Arrive in the U.S.?

(Provide specific date if known)

I checked the example forms section and the field was left blank. I'm not sure if this would be acceptable. Should I leave it blank or should I enter a guesstimate of the date of arrival?

Thanks

Put the date when you expect to arrive. (if known)

It is blank in the example because that date is different for everyone.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

"Within 6 months after visa is issued" is an acceptable answer.

Some argue that if you put a date then they MIGHT schedule your interview more quickly. We filled out the form sometime in April and put a June date to enter the US -our interview was then scheduled for the beginning on May. Don't put a totally unrealistic date though!

The question does ask when do you *intend* to arrive in the US....they know that obvously the date will change if the visa is denied! :)

Note: for K-Visas the DS-156, for most consulates is hand carried to the consulate at the time of interview, and the online form does NOT collect any information, the online form simply generates the large barcode on page 3 using the data entered into the form.
