My car hasn't been wanting to start. Others say it's the starter but my husband refuses to believe that. He claims it's the battery.

At work one of the sewage pipes has collapsed so we have no bathroom access in the building. The construction and city folks have to decide whose fault it is, who'll pay for the repair, and when it'll be done. We don't expect anything for at least a month.

I told Benny this morning that I would drive his car (which is all in my name) so I could drive myself to a bathroom. His response was "Never!" I can't get to the car without going through him since he's out on the porch smoking. He actually said for me to call him when I needed to go! It's so ridiculous that I have to rely on others just to pee!!!!!

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I think I'll have to take his keys and refuse to return them until he decides he will go look for a job.

yeek. rather you then me.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

if you had a volt meter you could check and see if the battery was over 10 volts while at rest, but even this is not always an indication of battery condition. the battery may have a date mark on it. if it is older than 4 years, it could be failing. if the engine turns slowly, but immediately when you try the key, it's prolly the battery.

if the "hard to start" condition began to appear only while the car was warmed up from running several miles and now happens frequently, then it could be the starter solenoid, which does not work well when hot if about to fail. in this case the engine would hesitate to turn over at all, but once it has begun to turn, it turns at normal speed.

if you can get the car started and disconnect the battery + terminal, you will know that the charging system is OK if the car keeps running, even with the headlights turned on. if the car quits when you disconnect the + terminal, the charging system has failed.

re your other issue, a soda bottle with a screw on lid, a small funnel, and a closet are a functional combination. guys don't even need the funnel.

No operating bathroom at work? :o I'd demand my employer rent a port-a-potty at the very least! They shouldn't be able to get away with that. In fact, they are required by law.

We shouldn't have to rent it...the city or construction folks should take care of it.

The starter was just replaced last year; I can't remember if it was a new or rebuilt one. The battery keeps testing at 14v (I think) which is over what it's rated at. When you try to turn on the car you can hear it spin but it's not catching. The "hard to start" condition started when I went to start the car Thursday morning.

I sense tension.

That's an understatement.

Well, as far as I understand it - your employer is ultimately responsible to provide you with a safe work environment, even if it's the city who needs to do the repairs, if nothing is being done on their end, the employer must step in. Do you work for a small company?

Yep, only about 10 people here.
