Before I finish filling them out. When do you use which one in the K1 Visa application process?

This question indicates you haven't read the instructions for the I-129F. The answer is in the instructions. Reading them carefully and interpreting them literally will be critical to your success.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

I have been reading and reading and reading. Yes Sir, I read them and then I just re-read them and answered part of my question. I NOW know for sure which one to use. You see, I am on this forum to learn and to get my visa petition file quickly as I am leaving to visit my fiance in a few days. If a person finds all he needs on the government forms, then there is no real need for this website other than a place for people like you to talk down to others. As is so often on the internet, forums that are intended to share information are hijacked by people who claim it as their own personal homepage.

We're here to help you have success. You'll have plenty of questions about things that are NOT covered in the instructions or about which the instructions are not clear, but if you don't READ the instructions carefully, you won't know what to ask - you won't know what you don't know.

When I see a question that clearly indicates the instructions have not been read, I take the opportunity to help you have success by pointing to the instructions. When instructions are not clear (plenty of times) we understand and provide the answers needed. Some members will go ahead and spoon feed the answers. I think this is a mistake, in that it does not provide the kind of help people actually need to have assure their success.

For example, when you get to the bottom of the G325a, you'll probably wonder which box to check and what to write next to it. When you ask, don't be surprised if somebody points you to the example forms. Those too are key to your success. Maybe somebody will be kind and just tell you to check "other" and write I-129F K1.

Seriously not Kewl  We are here to help you all we can, most of us are busy trying to get our apps together ... being told to go read isnt being talked down on ... the reason your being told to read is because you will find a million answers to a million questions and armed with the answers you can submit the apps sooner ...

But anyway your doing the I-129F????? Click on Downloads up the top of this page ... then click on the link for K1 forms ... and you will see you are required to DownLoad G235A ... it needs to be filled out 4 times, signed etc ... NO PHOTOCOPY each must be original....

See the link right next to downloads called Example forms ... look there too, it will save you a million other questions as each form has been filled out so you can see what is required ...

Filling a timeline is good ... so is letting us know what country your fiance is from ... it will actually help answer some of your questions faster as different embassy's have slightly different requirements and people that went thru that embassy for their appointments can give you better answers...

Read http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=300 it has a lot of info ....

Also, be a "pushbrk groupie" and read every answer to every question that he deals with. The information will be frank yet clear. You'll learn many things about all stages of the process. "Tone" is hard to decipher simply from reading, so take his answers as though he's putting a kindly arm around your shoulder and helping you out with meaningful advice. You'll gain a lot in that way.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

-jumps on bandwagon-

But seriously, I think the point here is that if you're asking for such basic info that is easily found when reading the instructions, then you may be missing many other important pieces of information. These forums can be very helpful in obtaining info that isn't easily found in the official instructions, but they should not be used in lieu of.

Yeah, like the hard @ss football coach you hated until about the time you really needed to shave. Some people think if you give a man a fish he eats for today, but if you teach him to fish he eats for all life. I'm guessing Pushbrk is the latter. But hey, he helped me with a lot of questions at one point and bashed me on the head like you also. But it got my wife here about as fast as possible and with no RFEs, so who's complaining now?

The guides, exmple forms and sample letters and things here are top notch. Most of them I copied verbatim (well, changed names and such) and had not a single question in the entire process, (I had questions, sorry, I meant questions asked of myself or wife in the interviews) but I studied these forums and guides every night for weeks and weeks. I still do because I am not done yet and now I hope to help someone that was nervous and worried like I was.

The bruises go away, it ain't that bad.

Yeah OK, so how did I get one of those heart things in the boxes under our photo, anyway?

Yup, totally agree ... I think I would have freaked if it wasnt for VJ and the Example forms, they made everything soo much easier ... I've had to ask a couple little questions but mainly because of reassurance rather then not knowing ...

 mind you the first run of the forms (for pack3) I actually sat there for over 2 hours and tried to remember every single place I lived and wrote each address and then when i reread thru the forms I realised what I had done, smacked myself in the head and started over and put down only the area instead of the full address ...
