I think first you have to call NVC asking for your NVC case #, and ask for when your AOS will be generated it, and when can you pay bill online.

Second, you should timing yourself, should you or should not sending your tax for 2008. Good luck.

Judging by your timeline, I think I'll be filing AOS after April 15th :) Thanks a bunch for all the info!!!

Great....So just to confirm.... Since I have tax transcripts for year 2005 to 2007, I don't need to send copy of any returns except W2s. Right?

Right! All you have to send are the transcripts and copies of your W2's for those corresponding years. It might be a good idea to send the W2 for 2008 just in case BUT definitely bring the completed return the day of the Interview.

really? Maybe I should talk to my accountant and find out what to do. I am totally ignorant of tax stuff, my dad's accountant has spoiled me ;)

:thumbs: It would be a good idea, and you will get stimulus check for marry, and not single. :thumbs:

Question about this.. I was going to file for extension based on your comment but I am more confused now. From what I understand, you get a refund if your combined income is less than 150k for year 2008, right? You've to be married in year 2008 to file as married and joint right? Doesn't that mean he/she also have to be in US in year 2008 to file jointly? Can you explain in bit more detail on who this might be beneficial for? I was married in Dec 2008 and my husband has a job in India right now so I am beginning to think this may not be beneficial to me. At the same time, I am total ignorant to the whole US taxing process.

hey guys, one more very "i know totally nothing about taxes" here", well im learning due to the visa

processing. I have all my tax returns and supporting w2's and the income matches. the w2 my sponsor gave

me matched with his tax return too except for the year of 2006, he made much more than his w2 shows. does that mean that i am

missing a document? i heard that there is 1099, is there supposed to me the rest of the income stated there?????what am i missing?

i know something is missing...transripts are not an option in my case....please advice other possible options....

not to highjack the thread, but, i am eager to hear an educated answer on this too...i was married the entire year of 2008, but my wife's entry in the US wasn't until DEC 2008 and she didn't receive her SS card til FEB 2009...i already filed my taxes, but, could i have benefited from waiting until she was here before filing?
