What to send for Tax return?

Hey guyz,

I am not a very knowledgeable person when it comes to tax. Also, I apologize if this is a repeated question.

Normally, I just hand over W2s, 1099s, etc to my accountant and she takes care of everything. At the end, I get an envelop with the copies of all the stuff and done. Till few days back, I didn't even bother to look into these envelopes. So, after seeing all the documents related to tax returns I've (W2s, 1040, schedule ABC and 3-4 other pages, 1099 for dividends and interests, property/car tax, medical bill, etc), what exactly am I suppose to end for AOS? Do I need to make copy of each and everything to send?

I do have tax transcript from 2005 to 2007 (ordered few days back). I plan to send tax transcripts as well as tax returns. For year 2008, I've not filed tax yet, waiting on one of the 1099 to get (in 10 days). In the case of year 2008, do I make copy of all the things such as W2, 1099 for dividends and interests, property/car tax, medical bill, etc) to send?

If you have IRS Transcripts, then you won't need those corresponding year's tax returns (that would be redundant).

As for 2008 - since you don't/won't have IRS Transcripts, you would need a copy of the return itself and copies of any/all supporting documents. :thumbs:

If you submit your affadavit of support now, you can submit the 2005 to 2007 tax return transcripts, with a copy of each years W-2. Then at the interview you can have ready a copy of the 2008 tax return, with the W-2, and the supporting 1099 schedules.

FYI...I have already submitted my AOS with 2005-2007 transcipts and W02s, and plan on having the 2008 tax return package ready for my wife at the time of her interview.

Right! All you have to send are the transcripts and copies of your W2's for those corresponding years. It might be a good idea to send the W2 for 2008 just in case BUT definitely bring the completed return the day of the Interview.

Just to clarify (or re-clarify)... if you submit IRS Transcripts , you do NOT need to attach W-2's or other supporting documents - this information is recorded in the transcript itself.

I would just send the transcripts!!!! YOU DO NOT need to send anything with them such as W2 Yes very addicting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow hniHnitsuJ, this is truely an eye opener... Thanks a bunch!!! I am not sure when my AOS bill will be generated. It sucks to be filling out AOS around the time of tax-return deadline... I am still confused about what to send now :unsure: ... The three possibilities I see are:

If I file my taxes now and my AOS bill is paid before 15th april?

If AOS bill is generated/paid before I file my tax?

If they both happen around same time-frame (with a week difference between two)?

What should I send in each of these instances?

I think first you have to call NVC asking for your NVC case #, and ask for when your AOS will be generated it, and when can you pay bill online.

Second, you should timing yourself, should you or should not sending your tax for 2008. Good luck.
