ONE SOLITARY LIFE

He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant. He grew up in another village, where he worked in a carpenter shop until he was 30. Then, for three years, he was an itinerant preacher.

He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family or owned a home. He didn't go to college. He never lived in a big city. He never traveled 200 miles from the place where he was born. He did none of the things that usually accompany greatness. He had no credentials but himself.

He was only 33 when the tide of public opinion turned against him. His friends ran away. One of them denied him. He was turned over to his enemies and went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While he was dying, his executioners gambled for his garments, the only property he had on earth. When he was dead, he was laid in a borrowed grave, through the pity of a friend.

Twenty centuries have come and gone, and today he is the central figure of the human race. I am well within the mark when I say that all the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever sat, all the kings that ever reigned--put together--have not affected the life of man on this earth as much as that ONE, solitary life.

Thanks Charles I hope everybody knows HIM especially in a secular generation that we live in. When I got here in US, I was shocked when I knew people who doesn't believe in Jesus. They don't know where their lives came from and who made them? Instead they believe in Darwinian theory where all people came from apes or just say "people evolve just from nowhere" Why do they make things complicated? Why do they won't believe in Jesus? Isn't that frustrating guys?

People doesn't appreciate simple things from the moment we wake up, we should be thankful that we still breathe and we are healthy. People just take this for granted. I brought up this topic here just to know if there still people out here who believe in Jesus. Anyone?

Yes, you are right there are 2 billion Christians worldwide, a lot of people admits they are Christians by name but not by faith.

I think you need to find a christian group in your place. My husband's close friends are christian. My in-laws knows Jesus. I have friends who are starting christian church in other areas of AZ.

The spirituality of the Filipinos is obviously of greater importance to them than to the people of European descent. Most westerners take a more analytical/scientific view on things. I am a Christian, but not by blind faith. My faith is based on history, reason, science and life experience.

To all those that find it hard to harmonize obvious scientific truths with the scriptures, i recommend authors such as Gerald L. Schroeder, Ph.D.

With Einstein's relativity came the ability for the creation story to be plausible.

Archeology of recent years has also shed light on biblical truths. People who do not take the time to research the case of Christ for themselves tend to lump all believers into "moronic creationists", but in truth, great atheists turned Christian such as C.S. Lewis, Lee Stroebel, G.K. Chesterton, etc. have shown that intellectuals as well as "simple" people can be called by God, and answer.

A good start for the unbeliever would be "The Case for Christianity", by Lewis. It's a short, basic book that is a great work of Christian apologetics.

Although those who have an emotional distaste for Christianity will probably argue from an altruism/moral relativism perspective.

Anyway, i agree that too many people have turned from their Creator....i am just glad that my perfect little Filipina is a Christian too.

Believer here! Dig my signature line? My asawa-to-be is most certainly also, even the daughter of a pastor. I got to see Da preach, though I didn't understand much of the message. He did make sure that the gist of it was in English, LOL.

I'm not sure how someone's personal religious beliefs (or lack thereof) can be seen as "making things complicated." It's actually pretty simple. Either you believe in something or you don't. It's not like someone can willfully flick a switch in their head and all of a sudden they believe something. Life doesn't work that way. I can't imagine for the life of me why you would be frustrated about that, although I am kind of curious.

^God is pro-choice.....He gives us all the right to choose Him, or the alternative....which is the absence of God. Not a wise choice IMO.

Pascal's wager is no reason to believe, but it does have merit.

I'm also a believer. Seen the good and bad of both christians and non-christians. But who am i to judge, I'm just one of those forgiven by God.
