Hello Everyone,

My wife arrived in the US as a K-1 Fiancee. We then got married and now are getting ready to apply for the AOS. We share the same last name so we dont need to change that, but what middle name do I put on the AOS Applications? Am I able to put my name as her middle name or should we keep it as is on her password and other documents? Her current middle name is her father's name.

Thank You

Correction above, password means Passport :)

But would it be okay to put a new middle name(my first name) even though her passport and other documents has her father's middle name?

:)

You should keep some consistency - if you plan to change her name on (for example) her passport, driver's license (if/when one is obtained), social security card (if/when one is obtained); then it would be OK (to do your AOS in this name).

Otherwise, while it is still OK, you're kind of asking for confusion to have all these documents in different names.

Her middle name should be the one on the marriage certificate. You had an option to change her middle and last name at time of marriage. What did you put there?

Later she can request a new passport with the same middle and last names. That's what my wife did, her brazilian passport was expiring soon anyway.

Karin and Otto are right, you need to keep consistency for the future. Any document before the marriage will have one set of names for her, any documents after the marriage should have the new set of names, but you shouldn't flip-flop between both or even worse change middle names on the go.
