I have been researching this since I found the post and not too much out there. I did find a question and answer for USCIS http://www.uscis.gov/files/nativedocuments...ing_26aug08.pdf and found this in the information.

The yellow sheet is a list of documents that are requested for the interview. In the original submission the birth certificate of the petitioner is not sent and it is being asked for in the yellow sheet.

Question: Our offices are starting to see Case File Review Notice/Interview Document Check Lists from the NBC on clients filing N-400s. Please explain how and why these are being used. USCIS does not require birth certificates when filing the N-400, so we wonder why USCIS is asking for them at interviews. These are especially concerning for refugees, many of whom do not have birth certificates and have already established their identity through the refugee process and adjustment. It adds another burden to them in preparing for the interview. Is the checklist process part of transferring files to other Service Centers and speeding up the processing for N-400?

Response: Complete File Review (CFR) is a standard practice of the NBC as they prepare cases for interview. That said, we will work with the NBC to ensure that the documents they recommend applicants take with them to naturalization interviews are not different than what is suggested by the Service Centers. It is important to remember that the CFR is not a process that slows down or stops the processing of a case while pending at the NBC. The CFR is conducted to provide the applicant with a complete list of items USCIS suggests be brought to interview in order to help reduce delays in rendering decisions.

Not sure about this but anyone that naturalized recently maybe can verify this.

Your interview letter should be VERY VERY close to getting to your mailbox... from what I've seen.. and me personally I got the yellow paper today, and I received my interview letter last Friday, so I dont think I'll be later than this week!! good luck!!!

I got my interview appointment notice within a couple of weeks, at most, of getting the yellow letter. Can't remember the exact dates/timing but it wasn't too far apart.

Yellow paper?

My wife just got her interview letter with a 'white' paper (N659, Naturalization Interview Document Checklist) stating all the documents she may need to bring. I guess they have changed the color of the paper! Unless the number on your yellow document is different than N659. Is it?

The yellow paper we received only states the File number which is NBC00####### and has a barcode.

The documents needed are:

- Bring your state-isseud driver's license or

state-issued photo identification card.

- If you have a dependent child(ren) and have been ordered

to provide financial support, bring copies of the court or

government order to provide financial support and evidence

that you have complied with the court or government order (

cancelled check, money order receipts, a court or agency

printout of child support payments or evidence of wage

garnishments).

On the second document listed, we were wondering what to bring. My husband listed my minor daughter (his stepchild or child(because she is minor and we got married before her 18th birthday) on his naturalization application. Does this mean that he needs to bring some documents or receipts, for example, a receipt in western union when we sent money to my sister(my daughter's guardian) for my daughter in our country..

Is my daughter his dependent child already??

USCIS does require as an option the birth certificate of the spouse. They are in the checklist on the Guide to Naturalization, M 476

If you are applying for naturalization on the basis of marriage to a U.S. citizen, send the following four items:

1. Evidence that your spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the last three years:

• Birth certificate (if your spouse never lost citizenship since birth), or

• Naturalization certificate, or

• Certificate of Citizenship, or

• The inside of the front cover and signature page of your spouse’s current U.S. passport, or

• Form FS-240, “Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America,” and

My hubby's naturalization is based on a 5-year green card..

He put my daughter's name on Question#6 which is:

How many sons and daughters have you had? For more information on which sons and daughters you should include and how to complete this section, see the Instructions.

The instruction states:

Write the total number of sons and daughters you have had. Count all of your children, regardless of whether they are:

1. Alive, missing, or dead;

2. Born in other countries or in the United States;

3. Under 18 years old or adults;

4. Married or unmarried;

5. Living with you or elsewhere;

6. Stepsons or stepdaughters or legally adopted; or

7. Born when you were not married.

Do you think we need to bring an evidence for my daughter? as his dependent? or what?

Forgive me, this maybe a little off topic from the poster's original message. But does everyone ought to receive a yellow paper or "white" paper for the list of documents to bring?

I just got an interview letter, nothing more. I wonder if they sent me one and I just didnt receive it.

Don't stress out too much. The document is just to bring if you have it or it applies to you. The interview letter depends on your local office and when they have time to schedule an interview. The yellow letter comes from NBC...your interview letter comes from NBC but is printed only when the IO office has scheduled you for your interview.

When you receive your interview letter, it may ask for you to bring additional documents. Has your daughter been legally adopted by your husband? The reason they ask is they don't want children popping up all of a sudden so that they can claim citizenship. This apparently happened in MN, because the IO asked me and I jokingly told him that "Not that I know of" and we laughed. Then he told me that people all of a sudden fathered a whole bunch of kids and claimed them on their N-400 form. Take your western union receipts and any legal document that shows the status of your daughter and why you send money. Basically provide any documentation that explains why your husband put your duaghters name on his form, besides the fact that they asked for it. I hope this helps.

My husband didn't adopt my daughter yet. But:

Immigration law defines a “child” as an unmarried person under the age of 21 (a minor) who is:

-A child born to parents who are married to each other (born in wedlock).

-A stepchild if the marriage creating the step-relationship took place before the child reached the age of 18.

-A child born out of wedlock (the parents were not married at the time the child was born). Note: If the father is filing the petition, proof of a bona fide (real and established) relationship with the father must be supplied.

-An adopted child if the child was adopted before the age of 16 and has lived with the adoptive parent(s) in their legal custody for at least two years.

-An orphan under the age of 16 when an adoptive or prospective adoptive parent files a visa petition on his or her behalf, who has been adopted abroad by a U.S. citizen or is coming to the U.S. for adoption by a U.S. citizen.

-An adopted child who is under the age of 18 and the natural sibling of an orphan or adopted child under the age of 16, if adopted with or after the sibling. The child must also otherwise fit the definition of orphan or adopted child.

Does this mean that automatically, my daughter is his "child"?? So we need to bring some documentation to prove that my daughter is already his child/dependent child??

There's a fine line drawn there. Yes it is his child, but the term would be step child. Is your husband paying for your daughter? Is he claiming her on his returns? what proof besides the western union do you have that she is his dependent. The reason being is, is your daughter going to claim citizenship based on your husband or based on you getting your citizenship. The USCIS does not want people claiming to have dependents, when they truly are not their dependents and are just trying to gain citizenship.
