I make alittle over 100% of the poverty line for a family of 3. ( I do not need to make 125% or need co-sponcer since i am active duty military) How much money do you think i will be required to have in the bank? Thanks...

If your income is sufficient you do not need to have (or disclose) any $$ in a bank.

None.

If you meet the level, your good to go.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

So why do they ask for bank statement? and a letter from the bank?

Same reason they ask for home/mortgage value, stocks, bonds etc. In case you need to use those items in order to qualify.

You might want to look at the I-864EZ and see if you qualify to use that form instead. If there are no children involved and all your income is documented on W2 forms, you probably qualify to use it instead.

If he is filing for a K-1, doesn't he have to use the I-134? I thought you could only use the I-864(EZ) for AOS?

When submitting banking details, they also ask for the amount deposited in the past year. It's just another way of showing your income.

I thought so too; you have to have filed a I-130 in order to use the I-864EZ.

Sorry, I think the drugs haven't quite worn off yet. Of course a K1 uses the I-134.

Hey I am in the military too, bank statesment and bank letter to verify that you have an actual account consistent with your income. How much money you need to be in the bank, as long as it shows that you have money to support yourself and 3. What I did is have all my military les for the last 6 months and it also shows there your ETS. Yes all we need is 100% above the poverty line. Show them what you have deposited monthly or bimonthly for your myPay. The rest is spends for the bills and misc stuff. Its weird because they never asked for a bank letter from me but then I used the same bank for 11 years since I have been in the military for 11 years. Godluck...AIR ASSAULT !!!

As far as I-864 EZ, I did that but alot of people here went to the USEM stated that they only take the I-864... to be safe I did I-864 instead of I-864EZ...
