Hi all:

I'm looking for FAQs that you can quicken the process of obtaining a marraige cert ;but couldn't find it here. Can anybody direct me there if there is such a section?

We got married in Orange County,CA and they told us that it would take 4-6 weeks to receive it via mail.

I'm wondering what I can do to quicken the process so I can submit my I-130 package along with the marriage cert.

Since each state is different, there are (probably) too many variables to list a section here (on VJ).

Here in Texas - we ended up taking our signed (by appropriate marrying authority) marriage license directly to the County Clerk's office and got our marriage certificate directly a day or so after we got married (otherwise it would have taken a couple of weeks). If yours is already sent in, I can't imagine a way to speed up the process.

Hi there, did you get a copy after the Judge or Priest or who ever married you sign it off when you got married? You can use that to file with USCIS.

Truly happy!!!

^^

Our experience was the same (married in North Carolina) and we walked out with it the same day! I would agree that if it has already been returned to vital statistics it may take as long as a month. Good luck!

Again each state is different, I have read of some from California who go to Las Vegas and marry just because they can get marriage cert the same day.

You will just need to wait for your cert before filing the I-130

What is required is a document indicating the marriage has actually been recorded, so no, a copy from the officiant at the time of marriage will not be sufficient.
